Trump built that Air base in Niger. We should be proud of this base and our troops serving there.

It was built 2016-2019. Trump did nothing in anyway to stop that construction.

The French will keep their own base in Niger alive and kicking. No problem. The french have 1500 troops there.
There are 1100 US troops on the American base.

Saying he didn’t stop it isn’t the same as saying it was his idea.

In January 2013, the United States and Niger signed a status of forces agreement to allow U.S. troops and aircraft to operate in Niger in a non-combat capacity in order to support French counterterrorism efforts.[27] Niger’s president, Mahamadou Issoufou, welcomed the deployment citing various threats exploiting local government’s inability extend its control to rural areas.[28] According to U.S. and Nigerien officials, the deployment of unarmed Predator drones was to provide surveillance capabilities over Mali and Niger. The following month, the Obama administration deployed a force of about 100 U.S. troops to Niger in order to facilitate the drone operation in Niamey and partner with French intelligence.[29][30]

It was Obama in 2013, not Trump.

“Let Africa sink.”

>>>>>>>>>

“Let Africa sink” you say...
By doing what? Abandoning our base?
Giving it on a silver plate to Russia or the Chinese?
Trump would never approve such a thing if he was President.

Russia, but especially Communist China is colonizing Africa, it’s in full expansion mode! Trump’s anti-China policy is what we need again. We must contain the expansion of the imperialists (Russia / China) who later use this expansion as a weapon against America.
So... we should double down on our air base there. To say the least.

The construction was going on 2016-2019. So Trump had AMPLE time to stop the project if he didnt like it. But he didn’t stop it. It was built under his watch.

“The French have all been evacuated.”

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Yes the french civilians of course (about 600). Standard procedure.

But the French military base is alive and kicking. They will probably enforce it with even more troops than the 1500 already there.

Gonna be interesting seeing how the West fights the Wagners. I guess Russia decided that they can play the escalation game too!

You wonder how much arrogance it takes to stay in a country that obviously despises you.

But then I guess that oil in Syria has kept us from leaving as well.

Wagner is definitely right at hand.

Hopeful that people of Niger can be given a chance to run their own country, instead of being treated like a child by the west. Nanny states abroad.
