Why did agriculture decline? Do they need braceros from the mainland?

Invasive species are causing a problem?

Sounds rather similar to the southern border.

When you get a big fire, you start backfires in front of the places you want to save.

And then you pray.

You wonder if the grasses being brought in are ones that the people who are building their dream homes in a place like Maui are wanting to recreate their front lawns like they had on the mainland with grass species that are not suitable for the Hawaiian environment like they might be for elsewhere.

Why are there so many fires followed up by direct energy theories. Why is the these people refused to sell their land to the WEF then the city burns down except for rich peoples mansions?

We may be able to consider this AFTER arson has been fully investigated by competent investigators with open minds.

No mention of cleaning out the dead wood or doing controlled burns in high risk forested areas.

They probably stopped the above to "prevent global climate change" and got bit.

That's what Wokeness does for you. It doesn't think about the consequences of the action.

An earlier article today said that invasive pine trees squeezed out tropical jungle plants. When the pine trees get hit by fire, the seeds explode from the pine cones and are carried on the wind long distances to either ignite new fires in front of the forest fire or expand the pine forest in new directions.

It’s funny...Hawaii is very proud of keeping highly invasive snakes out of the islands. Too bad they weren’t so diligent about invasive plant species.

I heard today, too, that the State of Hawaii knew full well that the demise of the pineapple plantations and explosion of invasive grasses could lead to this conflagration, but did absolutely nothing about it.

“Invasive highly flammable grasses in Hawaii have been key to fueling the deadliest wildfires in the US in more than 100 years”

Anything other than blaming the elected officials whose job it is to be sure such disasters don’t happen.

Invasive highly flammable grasses in Hawaii have been key to fueling the deadliest wildfires

So these are "invasive", but later in the article it says that The grasses — including guinea grass, molasses grass and buffelgrass — were brought to the islands from Africa...

So they were not invasive, they were brought to the islands to fill in areas of the agricultural plantations that were dying because of ???

So who brought them in and why did no one try to control them?

This is not a natural tragedy, this is a man-made disaster. Reminds me of the Mongoose population in Hawaii - there were too many rats, so the government brought in the mongoose to eat the rats. But rats are nocturnal and the mongoose is not (or vice-versa, I forget), so the mongoose ended up killing off most of the ground-dwelling birds.

From 2022...

Why Hawai‘i’s Wildfires Are Growing Bigger and More Intense The unfolding disaster on Maui is a sign of things to come as invasive grasses spread across the landscape and extreme rain-drought cycles intensify their fuel loads. Here's the science behind Hawai‘i’s wildfires, and the experts who are fighting to stop them.

Wonder if Hawaii has defensible space rules the way CA does...
