I also went 1 - 12 without air conditioning - in Texas. It was just as hot then as now.
AND the Educational Cartels did not start schools on August 1 back in the day!
Yes, I never went to an air conditioned school. No one of my generation did. And our thinking was far better and more clear than those who attended air conditioned schools—witness the nutcases the schools are turning out today, not to mention their teachers.
Same here. And I went to Catholic school. We wore uniforms, and there were no “summer” uniforms then.

Mid last century, when I was a kid, we started school in early September and school year ended the third week in May.
It’s miserably hot in the south, June, July and August.
We learned, by gollies.
6th thru 10th grade, few windows. The there were plenty of cracks in the floor above the crawl space. The other grades and college, still no AC, but the windows and doors did open.
No wonder we never learned we could have 2 mommies. Packing a brown bag lunch depended on the temperature with 1 mommy. Peanut butter any time. Not so much some other ingredients.
