Morning Consult Poll: DeSantis Sees Higher Unfavorable Rating than Trump
Breitbart ^ | 19 Aug 2023 | HANNAH BLEAU

Former President Donald Trump remains the most favorable candidate in the Republican primary field, despite his ongoing legal troubles, while Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis sees a higher unfavorable rating than the former president, this week’s Morning Consult survey found.

The survey found most, 76 percent, viewing Trump favorably, compared to 22 percent who do not. His favorability is 11 points higher than Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who came in second place with 65 percent reporting a favorable view.

Notably, DeSantis now has a higher unfavorable rating than Trump as 23 percent have an unfavorable view of the governor.

Most, 55 percent, also view anti-woke businessman Vivek Ramaswamy favorably, while 20 percent still say they have never heard of him.

As is consistent with past surveys, former Vice President Mike Pence has the second-highest unfavorable rating of any candidate listed at 40 percent. However, he is still above water as 48 percent have a favorable view of the former Trump running mate.

Both former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott have a positive favorable rating — 45-18 and 47-12, respectively.

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has maintained his status as the most unfavorable GOP candidate as 47 percent have an unfavorable view of him, compared to 28 percent who view him favorably.

That portion of the survey was taken August 10-13, 2023, among 810 potential GOP primary voters. It has a +/- 4 percent margin of error.

The survey came ahead of Trump’s most recent indictment as part of Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’s investigation into the former president. Given past reactions following Trump’s three other indictments, there is no reason to believe that this fourth indictment will have any negative effect on the former president in the polls, given that his ratings have consistently

So much for your idea that DeSantis can win where President Trump cannot.

If DeSantis can't do it, I'm willing to look at someone else.

And this unfavorable poll was before Ron lashed out and attacked Trump voters today.

Just come out of the closet and admit you’re just a nevertrumper, like many of the ‘desantis supporters’ actually are

IMO it shows the backlash by the RINOs against his abortion and DEI negativity. Don’t overlook that fact as we have lost recent elections by negativity from the baby killers and related issues.

Ron’s latest brilliance.

He should just come right out and call us “mind-numbed robots”. (RIP Rush)

So I'm assuming you mean anyone else other than Trump?

Question: Do you think that the Democrats would not cheat against your 'not Trump' candidate? I ask this because my mother has told me that she doesn't want Trump to get the nomination because they'll steal it from him again. I asked her the same question: "would the Dems allow a different candidate to have a fair election?" and her answer was what I have concluded as well:

RINO governors and state legislatures won't allow the Dems to cheat against an establishment candidate. All of a sudden, you can bet that signature verification for mail-ins and voter ID will be enforced in RINO-controlled state legislatures if the Republican nominee is not Trump. And I would be willing to bet that in AZ, there won't be any printer malfunctions and ballots the wrong size jamming the machines for a 'not Trump' candidate.

The 2020 Steal could not have happened if RINOs had not allowed it. The Uniparty is the most dangerous threat to the nation as it was founded.

The more people see of DeSantis the less they like him. Those still supporting him are delusional at this point. DeSantis is going nowhere.

yeah, look, folks, this isn’t really a big surprise...this is the way the Democrat party and the media will operate until the electorate figures them out.

The Deep State/RINOs/Democrats/Media declared war on Trump from Day One. They were stunned, deeply saddened, enfuriated when he won the nomination and the election against Shrillary.

Action was taken, if not in “collusion” between the various parties that hated Trump then at least in unspoken agreement...everyone hated Trump and so he had to be eliminated by any way feasible—legal or illegal. And the fix was in. The only President to increase his popular vote margin in recent years by such a ‘yuge’ amount (what was it...61 million to 75 million?) was said to have “lost” to a basement dwelling swamp creature of 50+ years and questionable cognition.

Now, having done that to Trump (he is exceeeeedingly unpopular among some imporant demographics—unfairly I agree), the idea is to do this to EVERY SINGLE CONSERVATIVE CANDIDATE. All of them.

The USA got a taste of this in the mid 1980s when Ronald Reagan wanted Robert Bork on the Supreme Court. He was singularly qualified to serve on the bench. The media and the Democrat party, but I repeat myself, went full bore against Bork. So much so, being “borked” became a verb—to be unfairly targeted for destruction. Who did we get? Some guy named Kennedy who gave us some of the most milquetoast decisions in modern times.

Now...hang with me...this is where many might disagree...the leftists are now doing this to Ron DeSantis. Of course it doesn’t help that some on the right are piling on...but RDS has been a successful governor and that makes the media and the Democrat party VERY angry. We see it Florida.

Ron is hated by the Florida media (Miami Herald, for instance, regularly attacks him). He is obviously hated by the failing Democrat party because Republicans have taken over the registration numbers in the state. When Ron began, Democrats had an edge in registration. Now they’re behind by more than 500,000 voters. And THAT is in a time when “being independent” is supposed to carry some kind of weight.

So, imo, the media has an ongoing war against Trump and will continue to attack RDS. Just an example from this weekend: Chris Christie, a minor candidate whose only goal is to hurt Trump, was in Miami this week. He came and with a pathetic little showing of a “town hall” got plenty of media attention.

The take by the Democrat media was: Chris Christie comes to town as Ron DeSantis is criticized for going up against Vivek and Trump AND while Trump faces more legal trouble.

Christie’s presence was used as a pretext to attack RDS and DJT...and the sound bites used from Christie weren’t about policy but about how bad RDS and DJT would be as President.

Hahaha. Another push poll 6 months before one single vote has cast .

RDS ain’t dropping out, and the donors aren’t going to pay for Trump’s attorneys no matter how much he begs everyone else to drop out lol. How sad.

Trump was badgering Biden to debate him and repeatedly said to his crowds at rallies that Biden was too scared to debate Trump in the fall of 2020.. Who is scared now? 77 year old Trump. That is who. Too old and too scared to debate the greatest governor in America!

How many lousy campaigns lost big but would have turned out positive if the candidates were carried over the finish line? I’m thinking Bob Dole in ‘96. He had a lot of class and stature. He was made to look feeble. Bush ‘41 resided over the ‘worst economy in 50 years’. Not true. We don’t do that for our people like the rats don for theirs. Just look at Biden and Fetterman.

Bill Simon Jr.(2002) was exposed as a lightweight but he had the darling conservatives give him the nomination. He would have been better than Gray Davis who was recalled. Then we get Arnold-smarter. The Secretary of State Bill Jones was more seasoned. That points to LaRose in Ohio even though he blew it on the abortion issue in Ohio. Sherrod Brown will be a tough nut to crack. It’s incumbency. Doesn’t have to be stupidity on our part.

This is about Republican primary. It only shows what we already knew, Trump is leading the GOP field.

Poll everybody who might vote in the general and Trump will have high unfavorable ratings.

DeSantis is mid tier among governors when compared to his peers. He’s overhyped. He’s run a disastrous campaign, reset, reset, reset, the leaked advice shows he’s a puppet of pollsters and media consultants. He’s gifted at attacking those he needs to vote for him if he’s going to win. Even better, he’ll lie about being behind the attacks before finally admitting it was him. He needs to stay in Florida.

Would be nice if there was someone else. Can’t trust Vivek. Trump isn’t serious about running for America this time. No one else has a pulse. DeSantis is a hard no for me.

Yep, they were fine with it because they figured they got rid of the hated Trump. It set up them being a shrinking minority party. Which is fine with many if not most of the GOPe.
