An abandoned airfield now houses a miserable camp with thousands of migrants who crossed from Panama to Costa Rica and were stranded lacking $30 to continue towards the United States.
Paso Canoas, the main border crossing between Panama and Costa Rica, has become a crossroads for migrants: those who have money only stay a few hours in the place and those who do not have money see their “American dream” become a “nightmare.”
“The 22 days I’ve been here have been hell for me because my children have been sick, we’ve been hungry because we haven’t had money, we can’t even go out to beg, even though we can’t go out to work,” said Venezuelan José Toro in dismay.
The 25-year-old migrant sees 50 yellow and green buses leave the mud-filled camp every day heading to the border with Nicaragua. It is a 350-kilometer route through the Inter-American Highway, which takes nine hours.
Why don’t they stay the hell in their own country?
Cause they know when they get here there is welfare, free medical, free housing, free phones, clothing etc. Add to that a Get Out of Jail card.

I lived there for two years. I spent my last three months in a deportation jail. I’ve got no sympathy for these people. Iv’e got some for the Chinese trying to come up from Panama: Fleeing communism but the US makes it difficult. China won’t take them back. Men without a country.
They put you in a deportation jail for 3 months?

Now these illegal vagrants are going to destroy Costa Rica!! The cartel needs to get this problem resolved as soon as possible before the Bidens move in to ruin this truly blissful country

These are bad people. I got scars. I’ll testify. Lived in Mexico for awhile too. These are bad people who believe that to be a good man you must be a good thief and liar. They have no honor (in the way I define it). They are nearly 25% of the population now. The Republic has been lost. We are a Democracy run by authoritarian fascists. We’re done. My father left in 2008 a few months before Obama won. He’s a well known man and politically connected. He told me the nation was done, so he had to leave. I have five sons, so I stayed. Trump was a very unexpected loss for these supercilious elites. They will never slip their grip on power again.
If they are “broke,” how are they going to pay the cartels and government agencies along the way???
