It is apples and oranges to compare Bush's response during Katrina to Biden's response in Hawaii

The media and other Democrats colluded to destroy President Bush in the same way they have continually colluded for years to destroy President Trump.

Now they are comparing their politically motivated criticism of Bush's response to Biden's obvious incompetence in Maui:

MSNBC’s Jansing: Biden’s Lack of Response to Hawaii Is Reminiscent of Bush with Katrina

On Monday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “Chris Jansing Reports,” host Chris Jansing noted that President Joe Biden went days without mentioning the fires in Hawaii even as the response has been criticized for being slow and compared Biden’s response to then-President George W. Bush praising then-FEMA Director Michael Brown during Hurricane Katrina.

Since the media and other Democrats have always trashed Bush about Katrina and have chosen to not tell the truth, the following is a timeline of what actually happened back in 2005:

Two days before the storm hit, on Saturday, August 27, 2005, Bush declared a state of emergency in Louisiana.

Despite multiple and continuous warnings, New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin waited until Sunday, the 28th to order a mandatory evacuation of his city.

He could have used school buses to evacuate the poor but didn’t. He could have stocked the shelters with food and water but didn’t. Think of how many fewer people would have died if Nagin had evacuated sooner and used all resources available.

On the morning of Friday, Aug. 26, 2005, Hurricane Katrina (Category 1) seemed certain to make landfall in the Florida panhandle, but by the afternoon, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) used new information to revise the watch area to include southern Louisiana. A watch was issued and on Saturday, two days before the storm hit, President Bush declared a state of emergency for Louisiana allowing federal resources to begin staging immediately.

[EXCERPT]

Nine hundred-thirty National Guardsmen were deployed to Louisiana that day. That evening the NHC issued a hurricane warning for New Orleans.

The federal government was participating in multiple conference calls with state and local leaders who would be the sole authorities for evacuations and preparation. On Sunday, [Aug. 28, incorrect date edited], at the urging of President Bush, New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin finally called for a mandatory evacuation, a delay caused by his concern for the city’s hotel industry. Even with local government delays, and school buses sitting unused, 80 percent of New Orleans’ residents evacuated which was an improvement over the city’s preparations for Hurricane Ivan.

Criticism from politicians, activists, pundits, and journalists of all stripes has been directed at the local, state, and federal governments.

New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin was also criticized for failing to implement his flood plan and for ordering residents to a shelter of last resort without any provisions for food, water, security, or sanitary conditions. Perhaps the most important criticism of Nagin is that he delayed his emergency evacuation order until less than a day before landfall, which led to hundreds of deaths of people who (by that time) could not find any way out of the city.[3] Adding to the criticism was the broadcast of school bus parking lots full of baby blue [and yellow, detail added] school buses, which Mayor Nagin refused to be used in evacuation. When asked why the buses were not used to assist evacuations instead of holing up in the Superdome, Nagin cited the lack of insurance liability and shortage of bus drivers.[4]

Hurricane Katrina hit on Monday August 29 and the extent of the damage was not known until Tuesday morning on August 30.

Despite Mayor Nagin’s lackluster response most of the town was evacuated within 72 hours by Friday Sept. 2. The people were evacuated to cities throughout the region.

I agree with all you said. While no supporter of Bush here, he was set up by the press and the locals in La to cover their incompetence, and worse, they got away with it.

Next up, Jan 2021, Trump wants NG in DC. Dems say no. Trump gets blame.

I remember Katrina. I think they were issuing warnings for over a week before it hit.

In the case of the Hurricane Katrina, a technical monitoring and warning was nearly perfect. The projected path was exact and the predicted windstorm and storm surge were very accurate too. The dissemination of warning was also excellent in a timely manner.

As early as two days before landfall, the NWS Office in Mobile issued a Hurricane Local Statement (at 725pm) that foretold of the historic storm surge values of 8-12 feet well east of Katrina's center.

In Maui, they never even sounded an alarm

I see absolutely no comparison from Katrina to Maui:

1. We saw Hurricane Katrina strengthen in the Gulf, and FEMA, and all of the Gulf states were warned and encouraged to evacuate. New Orleans was warned repeatedly. Democrats blocked the evacuation, but the Bush Administration tried to get people out of harms way.
VS
Maui. Warning system never went off. Water shut off to fire departments to fight the fire. Roads blocked by police to prevent people from evacuating. Democrats Controlled it all again, but there was no Republican in the Executive to try to do the right thing. So lots of dead people and Censorship and coverup.

People in Katrina made a choice. Made a choice to stay, not to evacuate. People in Maui got no warning and were prevented from evacuating. Huge difference. Katrina is NOTHING compared to what happened in Maui.

All hell breaking loose. Who’s in charge when it happens? Think the ‘preventable’ ones where damage could be minimized.

1) Lahaina, Maui. Water held hostage. No vegetation cleared. No military help.
2) Katrina-the evacuation order that didn’t come.
3) Afghanistan-the inept withdrawal.
4) Benghazi-4 dead Americans. What difference does it make?
5) The fence-the floodgates are open.
6) Viet Nam-1975 no emergency funds for SVN. Thank democrats.

Our next hell breaking loose:
1) Ukraine war expanding.
2) Taiwan.
3) What to do about homeless encampments/fentanyl.
4) 2024 election discrepancies.
5) The next covid.

My friends Trump was working on all this stuff and you know Ukraine would have been prevented under him. These things will continue to happen under the left as long as they can get away with the MSM in their corner. Didn’t work with Carter(’79)-the press was more honest when it came to evacuating the embassy. They’ll happen because we have no fight on our side.

nearly perfect? The Hurricane Katrina monitoring?

Talk about a bold faced LIE !!!

We did evacuate to just north of lake Pontchartrain the night before the storm. That was because the prior year we evacuated too late, and the 1 hour drive to Baton Rouge turned into a 5 hour drive.

The next morning, we woke up to Hurricane Katrina having blown up into a Cat 5 storm overnight.

So we then evacuated to Monroe.

The storm came in to the East of New Orleans and spared the city the worst of its wrath.

But that storm surge east of the storm? It was a lot bigger than 8-12 ft !

“Storm surge flooding of 25 to 28 feet above normal tide level occurred along portions of the Mississippi coast, with storm surge flooding of 10 to 20 feet above normal tide levels along the southeastern Louisiana coast. “

Our National Hurricane Center predicted the central Gulf Coast, including the New Orleans metropolitan area, would be directly affected by Katrina as a major hurricane about 56 hours before landfall.Aug 26, 2022

People had warnings, some didn't listen

The Bush response to Katrina was actually exceptionally good.

Bush ordered the Naval fleet that first encountered Katrina when it hit Florida to withdraw into the Gulf of Mexico and follow Katrina into New Orleans.

That allowed the US to immediately render aid as the hurricane exited northward.

More than 30,000 were rescued from rooftops by Blackhawk helicopters.

No other nation or previous hurricane response has been that successful— especially for a city located below sea level and protected by locks that local authorities refused to maintain.

Maybe if Bush joked about his toilet overflowing once being the same, the media would have been fine with things.

Didn’t read this right now, but to me the issue is not so much the difference between how Bush and Biden are handling things but of how the MEDIA IS COVERING HOW THEY ARE HANDLING THINGS.

I remember quite well what they did to Bush. He did not deserve the treatment. It’s the exact opposite with the worm in the white house. It’s nothing but slavish worship.

Dirty, I agree with all you said except this: “Didn’t work with Carter(’79)-the press was more honest when it came to evacuating the embassy.”

The press and all of the deep state was against Carter because he was not one of the crowd. They went along with most of his stuff only because he was a dem. For the most part, they portrayed him as a rube until Reagan was his opponent then Carter was OK verses Reagan who was despised.

If I could not have Trump back, I would love to have Ronnie back.
