I lived in Minneapolis 25 years, thus my screen name.
We moved to a small town 19 years ago. The best decision we ever made.
Same here, only I moved a mere 18 months ago. I moved to one of those small, rural "dying" towns with a population of < 2000. I just love the lack of traffic, and I've developed some wonderful new friends. If the US had "lockdowns" again, I would hardly feel it. (Lockdowns are considered to be a joke here).
And it seems like everything I need is basically at the end of the street that I live on (bank, pharmacy, hardware store, grocery store, auto mechanics, city park, etc.). If I move quick enough on a Friday afternoon I can catch the BBQ food truck at the fire station parking lot (he makes some excellent BBQ and ribs).
Sometimes some of my teen workers stay over during the weekend to work, which helps me not to feel quite so old. There are some shrewd business people here as well. Sometimes I think I may be surrounded by "stealth millionaires".
During lunch today I was serenaded by the sound of the local crop duster.
