If you've read RedState for any length of time, you know one of the things we are most known for is our hard-hitting commentary on press bias. Whether you come for the facts or the snark, we do our best to deliver insight into how the far-left twists narratives to push their political desires.
That's what makes this next story so surprising. According to Politico, Donald Trump's campaign team wined and dined with top left-wing reporters on Tuesday night in preparation for the GOP primary debate (the former president will not be attending).
SPOTTED IN MILWAUKEE — Team Trump wining and dining with a number of top reporters at a steakhouse called “Rare” — and passing out pudding snack packs (a swipe at RON DeSANTIS’ “pudding fingers” story) as well as debate bingo cards to troll the Florida governor. Squares included: “dismisses polls,” “wipes snot,” “red ears,” “Dee-Santis,” “Duh-Santis,” “flip flops on Social Security… again,” “woke” and “pudding mention.” See pictures here and here
Who was there: Reporters Dana Bash, Shane Goldmacher, Kristen Welker, Bob Costa, Fin Gomez, Dasha Burns, Rachel Scott, Rick Klein, Josh Dawsey, Rob Crilly, Mario Parker and David Chalian along with Chris LaCivita, Jason Miller and Steven Cheung. And across the restaurant, feet away: members of Team DeSantis.

What specifically was agreed to at the dinner is not known. Certainly, CNN's Dana Bash, the Times' Shane Goldmacher, CBS News' Bob Costa, and the other far-left reporters didn't show up just to talk about the weather. What we do know is that on Wednesday, those reporters all seemed to be reading from the same sheet of music.

Perhaps we can nickname it "MeatState" for 2024...
Don’t get dizzy spinning that tale.
I get it that it’s politics, it’s a contested primary and people are going to “play the game” a bit - but stuff like this ends up being massively counterproductive to our side in the long run
So ?
So what does that make them?
I’m not getting your drift; but OK, drift wherever you want.
Case in point re: this article/premise: Mrs. M and I both know in 2015, when DJT did an interview w/ Babwa Wawa and had her eating out of his hand, that he was bound for the office he sought.
Similar circumstance in this story. Trump is suave and debonair and knows how to project that. People who want to hate him find it impossible to do so in his presence.
But when he is hit, he does hit back, and it ain’t always pretty. He just never hits first.
On a side note, Trump impersonator Shawn Farash had the opportunity to meet Trump last night.
Hilarious.

Trump people were there to troll desantis
Ahead of the first Republican presidential debate, former President Donald Trump's campaign team is trolling Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida even as the ex-president is set to skip the high-stakes event. While hosting a group of political reporters at a steakhouse in Milwaukee, which will host the first debate, the Trump campaign handed out pudding snack packs, a reference to an article written by The Daily Beast's Jake Lahut and Zachary Petrizzo where DeSantis was said by two sources to have eaten a chocolate pudding dessert with three of his fingers.
Debate bingo cards were also distributed at the steakhouse as part of the Trump team's continued efforts to maintain the former president's dominance as the GOP presidential frontrunner. Some of the words and phrases on the bingo cards included: "Dismisses poll," "Ron defends slavery," "Gaslight covid record," and "nervous laugh."

“If you’ve read RedState for any length of time,”
Why would I?
In 1980, Democrats wanted to run against Reagan, instead of Bush.
In 2000, Democrats wanted to run against George W, not McCain.
In 2016, Democrats wanted to run against Trump.
So their judgement isn’t perfect. In fact, they guy they think will be “easiest to beat” often has hidden strengths they don’t understand.
And the more the Dems become the Graduate Degree Party, the more removed they are from swing and infrequent voters, and the more they rely on polls and caricatures of these people becaue they don’t know any.
Nothing of the sort.
No left-wing reporters pushed DeSantis into his “listless vessels” gaffe.
I can’t believe it, not for a minute..
No real ‘far left Reporters’ would do Trump’s bidding for merely some free booze and food.
No they are not trying to take out Trump but damage him with independents. Trump said months ago that every indictment strengthens him in the GOP primary-the problem is independents and women, Trumps numbers are sinking to new lows there-probably why Trump is saying he will nominate a woman for VP
Great post!
Excellent points.
Just more proof that the left wants Trump to be the nominee and that Trump and his team really aren't confident in the polls and fear DeSantis.lol
“ that Trump and his team really aren’t confident in the polls and fear DeSantis.”
Nice sarcasm
I have this not so crazy idea that Trump is going bring them all over to his side.
