San Francisco Mayor London Breed on Wednesday accused the homeless coalition of holding the city "hostage for decades."

London made those comments while joining a crowd of more than 200 people who had gathered outside the federal courthouse to urge the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals to cancel a federal judge’s order banning the city from clearing tent encampments until there are more shelter beds than homeless individuals.

"The homeless coalition has held San Francisco hostage for decades. It is time for their reign to end," Breed said, noting that the city has spent billions of dollars to help homeless people.

Looking at that picture, it could be London, from what I hear. The people in the photo could be the London Breed.

At least she's finally acknowledging what has been obvious to non-leftists for years. There's plenty to criticize Breed for - her one moment of clarity in a lifetime of cluelessness is something I'll give her credit for.

All kabuki theater.

There is no way she and the people in charge wish the gravy train of homeless spending to end. It’s another utterly solutionless problem that infinite money can be thrown at to either augment or enhance ongoing efforts. There’s far too much money involved.

The whole thing is scam and taxpayers pay up to $1,500 cash “benefits”, they get free medical care, rent is free in a city that has an average temperature of 59 degrees and low of only 46 degrees year round.

--- "San Francisco DEMOCRAT Mayor London Breed blasts DEMOCRAT homeless coalition: held city ‘hostage for decades’

Democrat mayor, Democrat Board of Supervisors, in a state with two Democrat senators and a Democrat Representative, a Democrat governor and a Democrat super-majority, and of course the Democrats in the federal government.

As the saying goes, "turtles all the way down." This is Democrats all the way up....

U.S. Magistrate Judge Donna Ryu is a creature of Vaughn R. Walker of the Northern District of California.

She's the stooge who put the injunction in place. Naturally, "judge" Ryu herself does not live in San Francisco, instead living in Albany [Alameda County] where tent encampments are illegal. Another NIMBY "Not In My Back Yard" hypocrite.

The Ninth Circuit 3-judge panel hearing the appeal:

Patrick J. Bumatay, Lucy H. Koh and Roopali H. Desai.

Bumatay was appointed in 2019 by then-President Donald J. Trump.

Koh and Desai were appointed by President Joe Biden in 2021 and 2022, respectively.

It is a good line and Breed is smart to adopt it. She is right on this one.

Typical of a Dim that’s been backed into a corner by her own, and her predecessors’, policies. If things have gotten so bad that a major policy has to change, look for someone to throw under the bus while maintaining funding.

$240+ million a year going to 59 agencies to help the homeless. That’s 59 office suites of rent and utilities, 59 or more executive salaries, 59 or more office assistants and filing clerks and paper pusher salaries. Then of course the mandatory Obamacare insurance for everyone, and 401k and IRA matching contributions. Of course, the executives need a company car and insurance too. Maybe they run ads and Public Service Announcements, hire an ad agency to develop their ads and print their leaflets and to post billboards or run social media - hopefully the space/time is donated.

Then these 59 agencies dole out money to subcontractors. Maybe run by their ne’er do well cousins or in-laws. Those subcontractors have their own offices and maybe warehouses, executives and workers, company cars, insurance and sundry overhead expenses.

Then say one subcontractor is in the job of providing food. So that subcontractors goes out to buy the food from a food supplier, who of course has executives and workers and warehouse and vans - but hopefully they have a viable business supplying food without just relying on the agency commission. Maybe, if they are charitable, they sell their overstock canned goods or foods that are close to expiration date. But there is a profit, which if you are a food supplier you would be in business to make anyway but ideally - but not necessarily - you give the contractor above you a price break.

The money is probably 60%-70% eaten up by these various budget expenses before a single homeless person gets any benefit. But, the homeless do get their $600 from the city. Plus likely other benefits perhaps disability, unemployment, SNAP/EBT cards and the like. And whatever side hustle they have either odd jobs, or pan handling, or slinging drugs or thievery.

Dumb as a box of hammers insulting hammers everywhere, yet the fools who live there voted for her so I rate them as worthy of zero sympathy. There isn’t any creature that thinks less than a Democrat voter.

She’s finally learning that... If you house them, feed them, let them do as they please, including pooping and peeing in the sidewalks, give them needle to shoot up ..., they will come!

As for the “homeless coalition” it should called the homeless and druggies pimps. To expect them, who make millions from the homeless industry, to solve the “homeless” problem would be the same as expecting pimps to solve the prostitution problem.

No, no, no...

You are correct that she is right but, she is still the stupidest mayor in America and get’s paid just shy of $500K per year.

She has zero intention of doing anything about the San Feces.

Plagiarism and etc. taken into account, and her past also, it is true that no SF mayor has said anything like this in my many years as a resident of SF.

Due to political pressure (also count the money in SF, the “downtown interests” of decades of SF leftist rhetoric) may be motivating such talk.

They better do something fast.

The Financial District has basically disappeared and accounts for 72% of tax revenues....

It’s nice that The Left has seen a tiny amount of light regarding the homeless. That said, even if SFO bulldozed all the homeless and all their tents and junk into hundreds of dumpsters it will take decades, if ever, to return SFO to it’s once upon a long time ago glory.

Too little too late!
