"I'm with the government, and I am here to help": WEF, Big Ag and Corporate food processors

“Who controls the food supply controls the people” , Attributed to Henry Kissinger (disputed)

As we head into the weekend of August 26, 2023, I turn back to one of the key themes of this substack- the family farm. We previously published an essay titled “The Harvest of Deception” by Texas Slim, which provides an introductory overview of current trends in American (and western) food agriculture. Here is a quote from that essay which gets to the heart of the matter:

The world's food supply is controlled by just a handful of companies, and the concentration of power in the food industry has increased over time. In the United States, less than 1% of the population is employed in agriculture, and most of the food sold in the country is controlled by a few large corporations.

The food cartel exercises a significant degree of control over domestic agricultural economies, especially in the processing industries. This includes the milling and packing/slaughtering industries, which are controlled by a few large companies. For example, in the case of grains and soybeans, the top four millers controlled 41% of the industry in 1979, and they now control 92%. In addition, four of the six leading grain cartel companies own 64% of America's grain elevator storage capacity, which means that farmers must sell their grain to these companies, and these firms collude to set the price to the farmer at the lowest possible level.

The food cartel's power must be broken, as they control the supply of raw materials, and above all, food. The food cartel apparently seeks to turn back the clock of history, and reduce mankind from the 7 billion population it currently enjoys to the state of a few hundred million semi-literate souls scratching out a bare existence. The full truth about the food cartel must be known, and the extreme globalization of the food chain must be eliminated. Nations have been forced into dependence on food from hundreds and thousands of miles away, and this is not sustainable in the long term.

In conclusion, the food industry's concentration of power has led to a lack of transparency and control over the world's food supply. The top seed companies account for two-thirds of the global proprietary seed market, and the top three seed companies control 65% of the proprietary maize (corn) seed market worldwide, and over half of the proprietary soybean seed market. The food cartel exercises significant control over the domestic agricultural economies of nations, and the extreme globalization of the food chain must be eliminated to ensure food security in the long term.

I often argue that the death warrant for small town America (and the decentralized family farms which supported it) was signed by Earl Butz, Secretary of Agriculture under the Nixon and Ford Administrations.

snip---- Earl Butz photo

In theory , his mission as Secretary of Ag was to assist small farmers. However he wrote them off with a flip remark which has become infamous.

Get big or get out!

Earl Butz, 1909-2008, U. S. Secretary of Agriculture (Republican), Mantra to Small Farmers, early 1970s

To provide some sense of the man, Mr. Butz’ political career abruptly ended when John Dean (yes, that John Dean) reported the following exchange in an article published in the issue of Rolling Stone dated October 7, 1976:

Dean wrote:

Pat [Boone] posed a question: “John and I were just discussing the appeal of the Republican party. It seems to me that the party of Abraham Lincoln could and should attract more black people. Why can’t that be done?” This was a fair question for the secretary, who is also a very capable politician.

“I’ll tell you why you can’t attract coloreds,” the secretary proclaimed as his mischievous smile returned. “Because colored only wants three things. You know what they want?” he asked Pat.

Pat shook his head no; so did I.

“I’ll tell you what coloreds want. blip...................blip That's all!”

Pat gulped twice.

This is the man who almost singlehandedly destroyed the American small farm and the network of rural towns that supported them. Not a big thinker.

Fast forward to today, just a few decades later we have the “harvest of deception” described by Texas Slim, laboratory fermentation produced “meat” involving cultured cell lines (“cultivated meat”), and World Economic Forum (WEF) efforts to discourage meat consumption. Examples of the latter (WEF) include the following essays and position papers, among many others:

This is not the entire article. It is worth reading with the original formatting at the substack link.

I intentionally blipped the Earl Butz quote, it is out of place on FR. Not doubt it is an accurate quote, but it is out of taste in today's world.

But this article is important when we contemplate what we in the USA face concerning food supply quality and quantity in our near future. This is the Brave New World. (shutter to think about it)

Why do people who can do, allow ourselves to be governed by the smallest minded who can’t do?

Thanks for the explanation on the Butz quote. That prompted me to go see what he said. It amazes me how many ignorant people have risen to the ranks of those who hold power over us, and I guess we are ignorant (at least collectively) to allow this.

Why? Because of blind acceptance of our government’s authority. We lost the power of our Constitution, restraining the Fed Gov.

The USA in the not that distant past, did question their leaders and it questioned concentration of power and deception.

We as a culture, have lost that ability from atrophy.

Bread and circus. When I attempt to engage people with the truth they seem more interested in distractions. I had a friend ask me how it’s possible Trump got arrested when the crimes were committed by the arrestees. It’s called corruption I said. He said he believed things would get better eventually. How so? I asked. They just always do. Then he said meanwhile I’ll just enjoy my THC gummies and watch baseball.

It is true.

Until recently we produced certified planting seed. My father died 2 years ago, he required 24/7 care living at home for 2-3 years.

We quit producing the seed. The cleaning and processing machinery is still in place, but the legal complexity of the process just keeps getting worse. It is aimed to take small producers out. Note: Butz’s quote, get big or get out.

Butz was very much like Landslide Lyndon Johnson. Same rough language and lack of polish. Both were large scale manipulators.

Yep. DC is “District of Corruption”

Austin, TX is the same as DC.

Both are snake pits.

There is some FReeper(s) that keep playing keyword games with anything Dr Malone related calling it Qtard garbage. It is pretty sad that even on our conservative side we have non-critical thinkers and shallow end swimmers, just like the left. I personally appreciate seeing posts from scientist and thinkers that provide thoughts and evidence that make us think. Anybody that has been paying attention should know Kissinger has always been against the USA. Look at his offspring, good lord she is nuts and she didn’t fall far from the tree. Since the beginning of time, there have been evil rich men that wanted to control the world and to be like God. Reference Nimrod in the book of Genesis.

What is currently going on, in my view, is all a run-up to the fulfillment of the apocalypse detailed by John. It will take a wheelbarrow of money to buy a loaf of bread.

Any government that is weaponized by a political faction is the enemy of the people it rules over. Read what our founders had to say about parties and factions.

Agree.

And you are spot on about those on FR who belittle Dr. Malone. I receive emails from him, long ago signed up for that. Have never sent him any money, but admire his knowledge.

He admits he was left of center before the Covid Scam.

But his perspective on the technology and the Deep State made him the perfect source for reality of the Global Power Grab, the Great Reset. (by Nazi Klaus)

We are already in a world war, nobody has dared to declare it, but our fascist global corporations, the Communists, the Islamists and the high ranking paid of POL’s and Bureaucraps are in open war to enslave the citizens of the world.

It is not the first time that man thought he could be GOD. But it might be the last time. We are near that point.

It’s a good article but it really overlooks the most important point. There’s simply no getting around the major cost advantage of scale economies.

I stopped by a local boutique farm in my area earlier this summer. It was a nice place and I always like to support local businesses, but within two minutes I could tell that this was not a serious commercial outfit. It was ridiculously labor intensive, and it took hours of work to to produce suitable quantities of the products they were selling.

I got to know the owners, and I learned that this was basically just a hobby. The guy was a retired investment banker, his wife ran the store while he ran the farming operation, and he said they cleared about $400 per month after all the expenses were paid — and they didn’t pay themselves any salaries.

They had jars of one particular “organic” item on the shelf for $15 apiece. A mass-produced brand name version is sold in the nearby chain grocery store for $7.99.

The typical car in the parking lot was a Subaru, a Volvo or a Tesla.

Just remember that at least half of the people are below average. And if the average trends lower, guess what?

The ignorance of the citizenry can be manipulated through an education system designed to advance students at the rate of it’s slowest students.

Look. I don’t sell produce on the side of the road. We have owned/operated farms in this county since 1889. The issue is not about economies of scale. The issue is about government approved monopolies. Legislation is bought by huge corporations that write the rules. And they they twist them.

My dad died 2 years ago at 94. My brother died last September, I’m the last of my generation, I’m 75.

My niece, nephew and my brother’s widow own 1/2 of the farms, I own the other 1/2. I hope to keep it intact. But in today’s world, it is not an easy task.

I spent 40 years in the wholesale hardware distribution industry, I know about distribution and about agriculture. In 1995 I moved back to where I was born. I will not leave again until the plant me, here.
