Dirty hands point the fingers.
Just when you thought the regressive Democrats couldn’t go lower in their race-to-the-bottom blame game, Chicago’s newly-elected mayor Brandon Johnson comes in and shows you just how ludicrous they can really be. And, to take the old adage “fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me” into account, against all odds, I’m sure they’ll sink deeper yet.
Reported by Fox News this past weekend:
Democratic Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson’s office announced that the city filed the lawsuit against automakers Kia and Hyundai, alleging that both companies have failed to include ‘industry-standard engine immobilizers’ in several models of vehicles, which results in a ‘steep rise’ in crime.
‘The impact of car theft on Chicago residents can be deeply destabilizing, particularly for low- to middle-income workers who have fewer options for getting to work and taking care of their families,’ Johnson said. ‘The failure of Kia and Hyundai to install basic auto-theft prevention technology in these models is sheer negligence, and as a result, a citywide and nationwide crime spree around automobile theft has been unfolding right before our eyes.’
Oh, you thought it was the pro-crime policies of the Democrats in Chicago and Illinois that was the problem? No, no, no, no…. The rapidly rising trajectory of car theft is because those greedy corporations failed to deliver, not leftist politicians.
Also, the failure of gunmakers to install inoperable triggers is sheer negligence. — Joe Biden Press Release (Parody) (@joebldenpress) August 29, 2023

First, Johnson is ignoring one major issue that unravels his whole argument. No one forced these people to buy these cars. Car purchases are consensual transactions, between consumer and dealership, and the role of public safety falls on government, not the private sector. (It’s literally in the name.)
Secondly, Kia and Hyundai are two very popular brand choices for Americans across the country, but stories of skyrocketing crime, and in this case car theft, only emanate from a few very specific locales: Los Angeles, San Francisco, Atlanta, Baltimore, Chicago, the list goes on and on. The common denominator is … Democrats in charge
The only thing these fools are any good at is grifting.
There are other common denominators we aren’t allowed to mention.
This is the same crazy analogy that’s being used against gun manufacturers. “Guns are used to commit crimes, and gun manufacturers make guns, therefore gun manufacturers are at fault.”
We used to call that a logical fallacy. Then again we used to call men men and women women, but what do I know?
🧐
Gee could a citizen of Chicago sue the city for failed to include ‘city-standard Police protection’ especially since the taxpayers pay for it?
Once they sued gun manufacturers for criminal shootings, it logically follows to sue car makers for auto theft.
In the 1960s (before cars even had “antitheft” devices other than the key) the government started a PSA commercial from the Ad Council. In those days hardly anyone locked their doors, and car keys were best left in the ignition. But car theft started to rise.
“Help Keep A Good Kid From Going Bad” was how the PSA was framed. The public was incensed, and the massive outcry was enough to get the advertisement pulled. The public still had a good sense of what was what, and who is to blame.
The shift over the years is notable, even among so-called “conservatives”. They seem to think if someone leaves anything of value in their car, even an old stale french fry under the seat, why, IT’S YOUR FAULT if it gets stolen. Keys in the ignition? Your fault. Warming up in subzero weather in the parking lot? Your fault.
It used to be auto theft would get 2 to 10 at San Quentin. Now it’s done for entertainment or alternative transportation. Steal a car for the evening. Get in a high speed chase, scare the womenfolk & horses, maybe smash it into a house, etc.
Leftists are monsters. Cost shifting everything onto the VICTIMS of crime. Takes a special kind of cuntiness to do that.
How about some Law and Order Chicago ,LOL
Case will be dismissed due to lack of standing.
Case will be dismissed due to lack of standing.
Yet a convenience store putting up a glass wall to prevent theft is racist. So isn’t placing anti theft measures on cars racist also.
Hyundai and Kia largely make cars for the “value segment”. By definition, these cars are more inexpensively made. I broke into a Yugo many years ago, and all it took was a screwdriver and ten seconds, creating about $4 worth of damage to a plastic clip. It would have taken longer with more damage if it had been a Buick Par Avenue.
It doesn’t help poor folks to make low cost cars cost more, but every new regulation does exactly that. Imagine how inexpensively 1974 slant-six Dodge Darts (seats six) and 1980 Honda Civics or Toyota Corollas could be made today. I’ll grant the cat converters ($500+), but no air bags, lidar, traction control, fuel injection, all wheel discs, backup cameras, electric windows and locks, etc. eliminated would probably make for a very driveable $10,000 new car, and the Darts can handle three child seats so larger families don’ t HAVE to buy an SUV or minivan.
Next up - Tire manufacturers.
With inflated tires, car theft is enabled and even facilitated.
Then air is next, used to inflate, you know.
I have yet to see a a law posted that Kia and Hyundai broke. One can not just charge them with a crime without citing the law they broke. Only in leftie loony land.
He’s at a new level. Buffoon doesn’t guite do it!
Just got my 2024 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid the other day and I am LOVING it.
Democrats shit in their own kitchens...they can’t help it.
Perhaps they can eliminate crime in chicago if they ban Teenz
As I keep saying, when China, Russia or the Muslims finally come in and take over this insane asylum, bad as they are, it will be an improvement!
