Report: Raffensperger Testimony Supports Trump Defense in Georgia Case
Breitbart ^ | 31 Aug 2023 | JOEL B. POLLAK

Posted on 08/31/2023 5:22:54 PM PDT by E. Pluribus Unum

Testimony this week in federal court by Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger reportedly contradicted claims that former President Donald Trump insisted he violate his oath of office by fabricating enough votes to win the state.

As Breitbart News has long noted, the media have misrepresented the January 2021 phone call between Trump and Raffensperger, quoting Trump as telling Raffensperger that he should “find” the votes necessary for him to win. In fact, Trump said “I just want to find” the votes, referring to his own state of mind. Moreover, the context was that Trump believed he actually had won the state of Georgia, and the votes simply had not been properly counted yet.

Raffensperger took the stand in a federal court in the Northern District of Georgia as part of a hearing on a motion by former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, who is one of Trump’s 18 co-defendants in the criminal case in Fulton County, Georgia. Meadows argued that the case should be removed to federal court, because he was just working for the president, and therefore cannot be tried in state court under the Constitution’s Supremacy Clause.

Meadows stunned many observers by testifying in his own defense. Raffensperger was subpoenaed to testify by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis. According to George Washington University Law School professor Jonathan Turley, Raffensperger testified that the call, while “extraordinary,” was a “settlement negotiation” in the context of an argument over whether to pursue another recount of votes — not a demand to make up new votes.

Turley wrote:

The call was misrepresented by the [Washington] Post and the transcript later showed that Trump was not simply demanding that votes be added to the count but rather asking for another recount or continued investigation...

At the end of the article, “However, Raffebsperger’s testimony could also be used to dismiss at least some of the Fulton County indictments, particularly regarding “Solicitation of Violation of Oath by Public Officer,” in reference to the phone call with Raffensperger.”

Ratburger wants to run for governor to replace Kemp. He will happily tell the truth if it moves conservatives to support him in the next Georgia governor’s election. Also, when you are on the stand and in the public eye, it is hard to lie (unless you are a leftist).

The media has lied about that phone call from day one. The left tried to make the recording disappear so that the left’s narrative could be the only one told. Whoever saved it to be magically discovered is a hero.

The House Judiciary Committee needs to subpoena all of the witnesses against Trump and his lawyers to show there is no case. The more testimony that exists on the record, the easier it is to get the case against him dismissed, but prerogative writ if necessary.

How does a this met the standard of acting with reasonable diligence on the part of the DA? Did she even speak with Raffebsperger or just read the Washington Post?

Yeah, bottom line is that this charge is pure BS, as are the other three cases. I hope Trump and each defendant who face charges are allotted compensation from all cases currently brought, and that lawfare litigants involved in bringing these bogus litigations are all bankrupted as a result. I pray that the same also happens with all of the J6 cases.

Justice must prevail, & appropriate retribution must be dealt out to these criminals who have sought to pervert law & order in our nation.

Probably will not come into play in this case. The goal is to tie Trump up in legal knots and along the way burn any of the professional resources he engaged as a demonstration to others.

Fani has the benefit of what amounts to professional pillow talk with a dedicated team of the top Leftist attorneys in the nation. Simply put, we are not looking at a typical legal proceeding.

My thoughts are this is Rattburger trying to pull a “what me?” moment after the train has already left the station.

The defendants committed non-crimes while conspiring to commit a non-crime. Do I have it right?
