Georgia’s Kemp Effectively Says Arresting Opponents Is Constitutional

GOP legislators trying to halt Fascist Fani have been stymied

Here was the startling headline at Fox News:

Gov Kemp says special session to remove DA Willis isn’t going to happen

Gov Brian Kemp says he has not seen any evidence that Fulton County DA Fani Willis’ actions are legally actionable

The story reports this, bold print for emphasis supplied:

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp says ill-fated attempts by state Republicans to call a special session to remove Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis are not going to work.

Kemp made the comments during a press conference on Thursday, saying it has nothing to do with his personal feelings surrounding the district attorney’s case against former President Donald Trump.

“Up to this point, I have not seen any evidence that DA Willis’ actions or lack thereof warrant action by the prosecuting attorney oversight commission. As long as I’m governor, we are going to follow the law and the Constitution — regardless of who it helps politically,” Kemp said.

And as if that were not bad enough, there was this from Business Insider:

Georgia’s GOP state legislative leaders said that calls to defund Fani Willis are ‘theatrics’ and impossible to accomplish

Amazing. Wow.

Translation? District Attorney Fani Willis is perfectly free to arrest political opponents and interfere in federal elections.

Call me crazy, but nowhere in the text of the Georgia state Constitution that I can see is a district attorney empowered to arrest political opponents and interfere in federal elections as lawfully conducted by other states.

Yet with Willis doing both of those — and Kemp’s willingness (along with Georgia GOP legislative leaders) to look the other way — the Trump Georgia indictments are

It’s too early to move against Willis, if that becomes warranted. At this point all that’s happened is indictments by a grand jury. The GOP defunding comments are just theatrics.

Let’s see what gets removed to federal court and what gets dismissed.

He's been an anti-Trumper from day one. None of this is surprising to me.

I cannot wait for Legit President Trump to shove this all back down his throat.

Is Kemp popular with Republicans in Georgia? Are they all on meth? Or is he like Boss Hogg, rigging his own elections and staying in power no matter what the voters want?

I think that Kemp got the message when they blew up his daughter’s boyfriend. He’s been toeing the deep state line since then.

Kemp needs to be arrested and tried, and I don’t care who does or how.

The Left loves power and gets in power to use it, and to prevent a Right opposition from forming.

Conservatives hate power, they like libertarian idiots like Reagan and Rand Paul, so when they stumble into power they have no agenda and they shrink from power like a vampire from the cross.

Stopping the ongoing bolshevik revolution in this country requires merciless application of overwhelming State power.

Who do you think is going to win?

It is very strange that if someone I know makes a phone call into Fulton County, GA it can result in my getting a felony indictment. Or that if my boss tells me to move some boxes I’m liable to a Federal felony indictment. But I guess that’s just our justice system in action.

“Stopping the ongoing bolshevik revolution in this country requires merciless application of overwhelming State power”

We need income and property tax caps in our constitutions.

Kemp’s letter identified 36 “inconsistencies” – including

Instances where votes apparently got switched from one candidate to another

Batches of votes where 100% of the votes improbably went for one candidate

As many as 18 instances where batches of votes appeared to have been duplicated

Georgia’s Kemp Effectively Says Arresting Opponents Is Constitutional

But in in 2019, when Trump merely questioned his "potential" opponent, Biden, about his shady business dealings with Ukraine, Trump was impeached as if he were a common criminal.

Would it have been constitutional to arrest Biden in 2019? He wasn't even a candidate then.

Does anyone else see the irony here?

Democrats get away with high crimes. Republicans are excoriated for much less.
