If so, it is useless and I’m crazy to waste time here. I keep hoping otherwise, but you’d mentality is a bit too pervasive. I prefer to learn, to grow, to understand more, including understanding those who think differently. I’ve been misled before and no-doubt am deceived about some things I now believe are true. Without a willingness to listen to other viewpoints, I would be doomed to a kind of satisfied and comfortable confusion.
Sounds like you may be in the wrong place! FR is a website for American conservatives, plain and simple. There are a million places on the internet that welcome people across the political spectrum - absolutely nothing against that kind of rigorous debate, but that’s not what this website is.
I am an American conservative if that means I embrace Christ as my ultimate king, hold the Constitution to be the regulating blue print for our system of government, cherish our God-given liberties, and believe all men (even liberals) are my fellow creatures and deserve equal treatment under the law. I don’t view those who differ with me in politics as personal enemies or as threats to my convictions. Those who differ are worth talking to and listening to, because communication is one pathway to learning and intellectual growth. If Jim Robinson doesn’t want me or my kind here, all he has to do is say so.
To be clear, I am not defending or advocating all viewpoints expresses on the Grayzone, but I do applaud them for excellent reporting on some subjects and have recommended some of their reports to individuals outside this form. I do not advocate censoring entire content providers, or verbally consigning all their work to the trash bin, because they hold views different to mine.
I appreciate your point of view. Sadly, I anticipated a response like Alter Kaker's when I submitted this post. It is unfortunate that FR harbors those who disparage information from anything other than an "approved" source.
I read from a wide variety of news sites. The reason I posted this article is because it is not just conservative views being shut out. I think the objective is to keep political discussion within a very narrow bandwidth so the establishment goes unopposed. Many say that the Constitution protects only government interference with speech, which is true. But if you are as old as I am you know that there was a time when this country had a culture of free speech that tolerated widely diverse viewpoints. Losing that culture is a big concern of mine.
Also, somewhat related, is that the old left/right, liberal/conservative, democrate/republican schema is on its way out, if not gone altogether. We all need to be a little more creative in the way we parse things out and not limit ourselves to that polarity.
The world is getting darker, but if your eyes are upon the Lord, you are getting brighter.
Freedom is in my and many others’ soul and ain’t going anywhere.
I think the Lying Losing Left is about to lose big time.
