Ukraine counteroffensive against Russia finally showing signs of progress
Yahoo News ^ | September 1st, 2023 | Alexander Nazaryan·Senior White House Correspondent

Throughout the summer, Ukraine has struggled to mount a counteroffensive that could puncture defenses Russia had spent months erecting. Allies watched in frustration as the Ukrainian military used sophisticated weaponry from Western Europe and the United States to seemingly little effect. The Russians were dug in and, it seemed, going nowhere.

But this week, the Ukrainians appeared to be showing signs of forward momentum in the Zaporizhzhia region. The village of Robotyne was liberated earlier this week. Since then, Ukrainian forces have advanced toward nearby Novoprokopivka and Verbove.

The recent advance does not mean the counteroffensive can be deemed a success — far from it, in fact. The objective of reaching the Azov Sea is a distant one, and the Kremlin is no less determined to keep territory than Kyiv is to reclaim it.

...snip...“Contrary to the 'armchair experts,' the Ukrainian Armed Forces have only approached the first line of enemy defense,” read a Telegram post on an account purportedly belonging to the 46 Air Mobile Brigade, which is involved in the fighting in Zaporizhzhia. “The fighting is not behind the occupiers' defense line — there is no need to hype this.”

In Thursday’s assessment of battlefield dynamics, the Institute for the Study of War confirmed that Ukrainian forces had made advances around Verbove but had failed to decisively rout the Russians there.

Everything we have been reading in the Western press for the last 2 week has been utter bullsh!t.

Even this neocon shill of an author hid the real story with a lying headline.

They better make hay while the sun shines. Only a few weeks of good weather left. Soon the autumn mud season will begin.

The Russians have recovered and changed their tactics now that they know they're fighting an actual war.

Looks like this war will end up in a stalemate.

It turns out that ‘progress’ was a bait and switch trap. The russkies put on a ‘show fight’, backed off, allowed the ukes walk into the kill box and lit them up. That’s the “progress” the ukes and nato generals are putting the uke conscripts through. Luckily, the ukes are filled full of drugs first so they don’t feel the pain.

3+ months of ‘offensive’ and the ukes barely moved a couple of miles. This is a slaughter.

I am on the side of not wanting to see Putin succeed.

However when it comes to the media and websites, you can pretty much tell who are cheerleaderrs for which side and they stand out over, and dominate over, sources and websites that just report the events as they are, without the report editorializing in a fashion that is partisan.

Yep, a meter at a time and at very great cost.

“Everything we have been reading in the Western press for the last 2 week has been utter bullsh!t.”

The biggest story is that the Neocons are down to giving less than $250M in ‘military aid’, not because they can’t print the money, but rather because the weapons NO LONGER EXIST in their inventories, and their ‘woke’ defense companies now longer know how to make weapons.

Biden is right to support Ukraine. But that doesn’t mean I’m a fan of Biden though.

At what expense to the American taxpayer in terms of deficit borrowing?

In my view the present level of U.S. expense for Ukraine is due to the card board cut out in the White House not really having any idea about and plan for aiding Ukraine to success. Instead they have from the beginning operated like idiots throwing spaghetti at the wall, in fits and starts, and just looking to see what sticks. That is not a plan nor a strategy. Its no more than spending to look like you are doing something but at every step of the way not actually doing enough soon enough. That non-plan has raised the level of “resupply” necessary. That is costly in any war but more costly when you have no real plan for success.

No joke! (as the puppet-in-chief would say)

Every story of this conflict, found on Yahhooz home page, seems to be all good news for the Uke side, and all bad news for the Russkies. Yep, news for programming the minds of the masses.

Some say by the time the rains begin Ukr will have lost 80,000 KIA…just in the GREAT Summer Offensive alone.

These are their last offensive troops, good men.

Tears will/are falling like rain.

I agree about our Squatter, but at $135bn and counting, how much burden can American taxpayers be asked to carry, especially with the enormous need at home that is being ignored?

you do realize the ISW is ran by Nuland’ husband.......they indirectly started the whole mess. So the article is biased. So far, this offense has “liberated” how many villages with a total population of how many? Id be surprised if its over 5000 population total. The Wagner criminal org. did better than the whole Ukraine army.

Minus Biden’s “climate change” trillions written into all the bills he got passed, Ukriane is chump change, and far less a cause for U.S. federal debt than all of Biden’s other doings.

If you want to complain about the U.S. federal debt there are many other things that are more deserving to be cut out. Complaining about the aid to Ukraine and putting it all by itself in the context of the U.S. debt is not a sound position for why the debt is so spetacularly high - Biden’s massive spedning IN the U.S. My view of your position is that is something we don’t have to do anything about FIRST. I disagree.

Oh, I know, you guys are trying to drag this through the 2024 election...but too bad Russia likely has other plans.

I was watching a video from an in country blogger who’s been raising money for Ukraine military units. He says the number one item all the AFU units are requesting is body bags. He said he didn’t want to share this news but has no choice because the need is so critical.

Its shameful what the homo-fascists have done in the name of “democracy”.
