Elon Musk says he denied Ukraine satellite request to avoid complicity in "major act of war" vs. Russia

Tech billionaire Elon Musk has said that he prevented a Ukrainian attack on a Russian Navy base last year by declining Kyiv's request to activate internet access in the Black Sea near Moscow-annexed Crimea. Satellite internet service Starlink, operated by Musk-owned company SpaceX, has been deployed in Ukraine since shortly after it was invaded by Russia in February 2022.

"There was an emergency request from government authorities to activate Starlink all the way to Sevastopol. The obvious intent being to sink most of the Russian fleet at anchor," Musk posted Thursday on X, formerly named Twitter.

"If I had agreed to their request, then SpaceX would be explicitly complicit in a major act of war and conflict escalation," Musk said.

Musk was posting in response to a published excerpt of an upcoming biography of the tech tycoon by Walter Isaacson.

Good for Musk on his behalf.

This also happened several months ago, when Ukraine was using Starlink for weaponized drones. It seems Z-man can’t take no for an answer, and Briben does what Z-man wants.

"There was an emergency request from government authorities"

This came from Biden/NATO. If anyone believes our bought & paid for puppet Zelensky called this shot alone, they are dopier than I thought possible.

the understated story here is,

UKRAINE HAS THE ABILITY TO SINK RUSSIA’S NAVY

obviously, a country that has that kind of capability is hardly “finished” LOL

7 Year War ...

I bet the deep-state now hates Musk more than Trump.

Musk created Star-link as a communications and internet company, not a weaponized tool for DC psychopaths like Nuland and Blinken

Moreover, his largest factory in the world is in Shanghai - it would be supressed quickly if Musk aligned himself so obviously with NATO and their efforts in Ukraine.

Good call, probably also why the government is after him on other matters.

There you go again. The understated story is - Ukraine has no capabilities on its own. It can only act when its NATO masters give it some rope and the permission to act.

All Starlink provides is guidance info. Ukraine would still have to gather the missiles, turn their radars on, launch them and get them to target. They may hit something, they may be destroyed on the ground or en-route.

The comment that "Ukraine will destroy Russia's navy" is just more zeeper BS propaganda.

20 year war. To replace the last one. Both UKR and Russia are making billions off of this cash cow war. The same applies for pretty much all of congress and the senate, on both sides of the aisle and anybody within a 5 mile radius of the pentagon.

You opened yourself up a can of worms Elon, by turning it on for them in the beginning.

The initial reports were that Musk ordered a shut down of Starlink service in the Crimea region to prevent its use guiding sea drones.

His reply was he never ordered a shut down. It had never been active in that region.

The real issue is Starlink is not a secure network. Anyone can track bytes going to whatever base station or drone IP address. The US has in orbit assets that are secure that could do this. There is no reason for Starlink to be involved, nor their competitors like ViaSat.

This . . . is a marketing maneuver for a biography. It never happened.

So now those ships can lob cruise missiles into market places, schools and apartment buildings. Thanks Elon.
