Despite Biden’s claim, Europeans WEREN’T trying to oust Ukraine prosecutor targeting Hunter’s firm

The European Commission praised Ukraine’s Prosecutor-General Viktor Shokin for his efforts to fight corruption in a December 2015 progress report published nine days after then-VP Joe Biden demanded his ouster.
The report flies in the face of Biden’s claims that the European Union joined his demands that Shokin be removed for being corrupt and obstructing anti-corruption reforms.
In fact, the Dec. 18, 2015, progress report, obtained by the New York Post, says that the European Union was satisfied that Ukraine had achieved “noteworthy” progress, including in “preventing and fighting corruption,” and thus was eligible for visa-free travel in Europe.
The European Commission noted that Shokin had just appointed the head of a specialized anti-corruption prosecution office, which it described as “an indispensable component of an effective and independent institutional framework for combating high-level corruption.”

The story dems told me in person was "Everybody" wanted Shokin fired." That was a lie to respond to the video that proves that Trump was impeached for being accused of what Biden actually did:

Biden brags about extortion to fire prosecutor investigating Burima

Biden wasn’t impeached for something truly impeachable he said in front of the camera.

Trump was impeached for what Biden unlawfully did.

This is what we call “justice” these days.

Hmmm.... From the article you posted (Yes, breaking with FR protocol I read it all! :-) ) I see that they interviewed the Swedish economist Anders Åslund:

Anders Aslund, a senior fellow at the Atlantic Council in Washington, DC, told the Wall Street Journal in 2019, “Everyone in the Western community wanted Shokin sacked … The whole G-7, the IMF, the EBRD [the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development], everybody was united that Shokin must go, and the spokesman for this was Joe Biden.”

Actually, Mr Aslund had been prominent in attacks against Shokin much earlier:

In a column published days after Shokin was fired in March 2016, Anders Aslund, a senior fellow at the Atlantic Council think tank in Washington, wrote that his dismissal came as no surprise.

"The amazing thing is not that he was sacked but that it has taken so long," Aslund said. "Petro Poroshenko appointed Shokin to the role in February 2015. From the outset, he stood out by causing great damage even to Ukraine's substandard legal system."

I haven't had time to check Mr Åslund's connections with Burisma etc, but personally I would not trust him as far as I could throw him. My feeling of trust did not increase when I saw what was added to the article I linked to above:

An annual report from Burisma shows that the company donated between $100,000 and $250,000 to the Atlantic Council in 2018-19, according to multiple media reports.

Even when he tells the truth he is likely to have an evil motive. Like the NY Times finally admitting that the Hunter laptop was real.

Actually, it did not take long to find a nice connection:

From the German Deutsche Welle: "Who owns Burisma" (note the date May 2014).

The appointment of Joe Biden's son to the board of Ukrainian gas firm Burisma has raised eyebrows the world over. The names of the company's actual owners are being protected like state secrets.

....

In late 2013, Slotshevski denied that he owned Burisma, and an employee in his office reported that he sold the company - but no evidence of this has come to light yet. Two oligarchs, Ihor Kolomojski and Viktor Pinchuk, have been named as the possible new owners. Kolomojski was appointed the new head of the regional administration in Dnipropetrovsk after the recent change of government in Kyiv. He is believed to wield more political influence than Pinchuk.

DW could not reach Kolomojski for comment about Burisma. Pinchuk refused to comment, but is said to have a good relationship with the Democratic Party in the US, and is also believed to have been a long time friend of former Polish President Kwasniewski.

From Anders Åslund's Wikipedia page:

In 2016, Åslund was appointed to the supervisory board of Ukraine's 23rd largest bank, Kredyt Dnipro, owned by Ukrainian billionaire Viktor Pinchuk.[12][13]

My, my....

Miranda Devine is outnumbered 100, or maybe 1000, to one. That’s what they mean by “Everyone” wanted Shokin fired.

January 19, 2017 – Ukrainian oligarch Victor Pinchuk, joins the Atlantic Council’s Advisory Board who then partners with Burisma Holdings

I think it is quite obvious that those media outlets who used Mr Åslund as their source re Burisma and Shokin did not perform due diligence.

Good idea. Some DAs in red counties (huge red cities are pretty rare) should convene grand juries and then get the state legislature to take Biden off the ballot. The corresponding but opposite of what dems are trying to do.

Biden and all his allies claimed that everybody in the world wanted Shokin fired. That was a lie, but I’m not sure Biden is smart enough or sane enough to kwow what is true.
