More WA employees speak out against 'Outward Mindset' program
After a union petition kicked off calling for the Washington Department of Health to end mandatory Outward Mindset training, employees say more colleagues are speaking up against the controversial training program.
OLYMPIA, Wash. - After a union petition kicked off calling for the Washington State Department of Health to end mandatory Outward Mindset training, employees say more colleagues are speaking up against the controversial training program.
"The response has been a ripple effect, there are staff that are more emboldened to say something," said one WA DOH worker who wishes to remain anonymous.
"Specifically, black and brown staff, where usually they don’t at all because of the retaliation culture at work."
This worker, who we are calling Jane, tells FOX 13 she is speaking out because of the harm she's experienced herself and witnessed others go through under the mandatory employee development program within DOH.
"I am afraid of retaliation, but I’m more afraid of what the consequences will be if there isn’t transparency," said Jane.

Seems to be LDS-based.
If you don’t understand this - why post it?
Seems like asking a question is a good thing. Although I can GOOGLE an answer, locals will provide insight that a liberal dominated media may not.
After reading the article, there weems to be a large dose of irony here. The program’s ostensible goal is to get people to empathize/consider the effect of what they say has on others, and to try to communicate without hurting other people’s feelings. That sounds reasonable on the surface.
But “Jane” feels abused by this attempt to force rigid conformity on her and others; i.e., the results are 100% opposite to the program’s intent. Sounds like someone atop or above this DOH correctly perceives that the organization very much needs “empathy” training, with the proof being that they dish it out with an iron fist. Solution: Replace whoever was involved in implementing this ‘training” and the upper management that let them.
Are you Troy? Your comment is juvenile.
No, I’m not whomever Troy is. What’s juvenile about my comment? It’s based on what at least one of the reviewers said. After checking on that, the founder of Arbinger Institute from whence this program comes, is C. Terry Warner, a Mormon. As far as I can tell, the book and seminar aren’t about Mormonism, but it all boils down to the Golden Rule, treat others as you would them treat yourself. However, some of the participants felt pressured in some way which may be due more to who was running the seminar than from what was in the book itself.
As to that, one can post a sign on the wall by the time-clock and save everyone time and money. The concept reminds me of having to endure Behavioral Science in college which is basically how to manipulate others. It was decidedly more behavioral than scientific.
I am local, and have a flaming blue sister within the bowels of WA hell, but no communication. My other Sister and her Hubby (investigator for welfare fraud WA state) blew this pop stand for a better life in MT.
I will attempt to find out the particulars from my BIL. His typical response is “Oh Man”, followed by “I am glad I got out of that place.”
I will forward this to them and await a reply.
I know is the State’s DEI coordinator got fired recently.
Thanks!
I am Troy but previously I was Spartacus
