A man who works at the front desk at a rock climbing gym said in a viral TikTok that people who work from home all day are now bringing "insane energy into public spaces."

Speaking on behalf of fellow hospitality and retail workers, the TikToker Alec Flynn told 1.4 million viewers last week: "If you're working from home all day, you need to have at least one more conversation or interaction before you come to a public place."

I have been saying this for a long time. This separation and isolation of people is going to have long reaching and unexpected ramifications for those who ignore it and tout this “work from home” as the only way to go.

It isn’t. And it is turning our work ethic into Euroweenie-work ethic.

But hey. Some people will get to work from home who really really want to.

I work two days from home, and I like it for the extra sleep. But that is it.

Which is why dogs and cats are so important. Dunno how I would have survived without my parade of fur-people over the years. I'm a senior with a senior ginger guy-cat.

I've moved away or out-lived all my friends and wife.

Or maybe - just maybe - people who show up at rock climbing gyms just have a lot more energy than most people, who don't go to rock climbing gyms and who probably aren't aware that rock climbing gyms even exist.

From the article: "If you're working from home all day, you need to have at least one more conversation or interaction before you come to a public place."

What he's really saying is, "I'm sorry but you're going to meet your first idiot of the day at the first place you go."

The lockdowns and remote work have exposed how many mutants are out there. They haven't changed; they just stand out more because you don't run into them all day long when working remote.

When I witness a brain dead idiots stop in a doorway because they're checking their phone, it brings me back to how many people I would regularly see do it when commuting and working in the office. They'd block stairways, elevators, building turnstiles, transit turnstiles, train doors, etc.

We were conditioned to get used to it. Now that people work remotely, it really stands out when you go to the gym and the same idiots who'd behave do ignorantly are still doing it three years later.

That gym receptionist is very observant.
I’ve noticed Golden Retriever behavior in myself since I became semi retired. I’ve learned to dial it back a bit and do more listening, less gabbing
Social contact, pleasant social contact on a regular basis, is essential to most of us.

Getting involved in an organization and the importance of a routine will take care of social contact on a regular basis.

Woke Liberals think that they don't have to go to the office because they're sticking it to the man.

One person’s opinion does not make fact.

I haven’t noticed that from people I know who work from home. Most love it and have plenty enough social interaction to keep them well balanced.

Baby Boomers can probably handle WFH better because they're established in their careers, they have a support network with their families and they probably have a variety of hobbies.

Isn’t that what going to the gym is for. To exercise, release tension and built up energy. And to socialize. People can exercise from home. There is a billion dollar industry built around home gym equipment. But going to the gym is more fun. The gym guy is an ass.

It's the changes in socialization but not the way the author projects it as. Remote work insulates you from slack-jawed idiots and when you do run into them now, you don't want to accept that they're that empty-headed.

You then realize how much of your commute and office day had been full of such drooling morons and how you had become indifferent to them and learned to work around them.

Once aware, you can't back and unsee it.

It's also that the "cancel culture" and "woke" mob have made it so you don't dare call out the obvious lest you "trigger" some snowflake. With no one to tell them to pay attention and get their head out of their ass, their behavior has become worse, having nothing to do with changing of socializing patterns of remote workers. The Democrat Riots of 2020 exposed just how far gone these people are. Others have wised up and have left them to their own devices.

Nobody is really alone.

Our God is right here.

It may take time to understand, I get it.

The time here is short, but just long enough to enjoy a world in your skin owned by satan.

Pray with your God. He will guide you out.

and follow his commands btw.

Funny, but I work at a Funeral Parlor / Mortuary, and most of my clients bring a very subdued and somber "energy" into the shop.

I wonder why that is?

And because we're older.

Simple physical age gives us a "better handle" on working from home - or, rather, we actually prefer it.

Well, we always had cats, but it’s been a while now.
It’s just me and my wife ... at home, that is. My daughter and son both have families more or less nearby ... wouldn’t mind a cat, now that you mention it!

The gathering of His body, brings His spirit. There have been stay at home moms for decades in the church and the Have always been fine.
My am an INTROVERT, in every sense of the word…
You are talking about a Post Christian society.. the absence of God makes people that way. So I doubt it was the pandemic.
And.. addictive drugs are released during some exercise states, so dealing with a drug addict is always challenging.
