It’s Shangri-La for the down and out.

A decked-out, open-air tavern for the homeless that also rents out tents for prostitution has popped up in downtown Denver, according to police.

The pop-up speakeasy — which features lounge chairs, umbrellas and astroturf — has taken over the sidewalk at 23rd Street and Champa Street, which the city’s growing homeless population turned into an encampment.

I was sort of thinking the same thing. At least there’s some commerce going on!

Why pay taxes, or let govt get in the way of your own “Summer of Love” especially if they are Impotent.

This is a serious question.

Refresh my memory please. Ripple was a lower budget wine made from pears and fortified with a high alcohol content? I remember seeing on store shelves as a kid by others like Night Train Express, Boones Farm and MD 2020. Haven’t seen it for years.

Ripple is a type of perry wine originally manufactured by Weston Cider Company.4 It was made famous by Fred G. Sanford of Sanford and Son, who called it “Champipple,” a mixture of champagne or ginger ale.1 Ripple was popular among young drinkers, both underage and college age students. It was often referred to on Sanford and Son, as it was Fred Sanford’s alcoholic beverage of choice, making Sanford an early spokesperson of the product.2 An unopened bottle of Ripple wine dates back to the late 70s or early 80s, and it was often referred to as everyone’s favorite ghetto wine.3 However, no one has seen the drink in decades.0

So they are re-creating the Denver of 1858!?

Put them all in period costumes and call it a reenactment.

reminds me of the joke about the indian cowboy at the bar in town with the two bags, one with a cat and another with road apples, ordering a shot of whisky.

Rentable tents?

Who is renting from whom? Who is providing the tents for rent and who is rendering the services inside the tents?

Is anyone making solid profits there?

More and more people will go on disability, welfare, work fewer hours, not try as hard, etc...
If the system doesn’t reward based on merit, and there isn’t a large gap in results from working hard, why work hard?

Collect government money, do some work for cash...

To quote Fred Sanford: “Why have a shot of brandy when you can have an explosion of Ripple?”

A town might begin with such activities but civilization begins when churches, schools and law is established.
