Personally, heartbeat, plus qualified exception for life of the mother.
It’s a State issue, period. End of discussion.
Trump [has] refused to endorse a federal ban on abortion, allowing some top rivals to get to the right of him …Being against states rights is not “to the right of” Trump on this issue.
Last year Roe v Wade was overturned. It took almost half a century to get to that place, to where it should have been all along: back to the individual states.
It is now up to the people of those states to determine what they will do about abortion-related policy.
That might more than frustrate many pro-life activists, but it was to be expected if Roe was overturned.
The battle is won. But the war to change hearts and minds has escalated.
The leftist rammed through an illegal National abortion law through the courts, that eventually was repealed. Now some low IQ poster says Trump won’t sign a National bill banning abortion. The federal government must stay out of it. Abortion was never ratified by all the states.
Nor should he. It’s a state issue, unless someone can find a specific reference to abortions in the Constitution. The legislature had decades in which to codify abortion, but they chose not to do so.
The problem with the qualified exception, is that there are dishonest doctors willing to claim that the mother may face problems unless she is allowed to abort.
If it were up to me, it would be banned, period. Unless the mothers life was in danger. But its a state right
Republicans need to fight this at the state level. Not in the presidential race.
Leave it to the states. It’s the right position constitutionally, morally, and politically, all of which are important.
I despise abortion.
Yet it’s probably one reason we had a red ripple on 2022. The SCOTUS for whatever reason passed their abortion ruling shortly before the election and it galvanized leftist and moderate women to vote Dem.
Might be best to be quiet on this until AFTER the election this time.
State’s right’s issue. No National ban should stand. Just like Roe v Wade was wrong a National ba is wrong.
As repulsive and abhorrent abortion is, it is a matter that should be left to the states, just like other crimes (murder, etc.). That it has now been decided by the USSC that abortion (here, where the government wants ubiquitous abortions anywhere for any reason) is a ‘right.’
AFAIC, Trump did what he needed to do - get enough justices installed who rightly overturned Roe v Wade.
Trump supports the minimum wage for the same reason.
If people want about abortion on demand ended nationwide, there will have to be a constitutional amendment.
BUT WE NEED OUR REPUBLIC BACK FIRST.
There is only one goal right now, folks.
Restoration of our republic comes before everything else.
It is the ONLY issue.
To folks who don’t get that...
Jerk your heads out.
My personal view is: no abortion.
If you want to murder your baby - it’s you who must face judgement before an angry God.
My issue is - use your own money for murder, not taxpayers’ money.
State issue. Leave it be.
Abortion is a state issue.
I’ll give Trump credit here. From a purely political point of view, he’s right. We are not a pro-life country and Trump understands the issue is a loser for Republicans.
Trump supported abortion before he switched to the GOP. He’s figured out that banning abortion is not all that popular. Regulations are ok, but once they become so restrictive that they are controversial, that’s enough.
The matter of abortion had been ruled by SCOTUS.
Abortion is a matter left by the constitution to the various states.
It’s a state issue, constitutionally. There is no right to kill the unborn except in RARE cases of self-preservation. Just like any other kind of killing.
though I would propose that stealing cars ought to be grounds for a good shooting.
