Trump criticizes Republicans pushing abortion bans with no exceptions: 'You're not going to win'

Trump said members of his own party "speak very inarticulately about this subject.

"I watch some of them without the exceptions, et cetera, et cetera," he said, referring to conservatives who don't support abortion exceptions in cases including abortion and rape. "I said, 'Other than certain parts of the country, you can’t — you’re not going to win on this issue. But you will win on this issue when you come up with the right number of weeks."

"Because Democrats don’t want to be radical on the issue, most of them, some do," he continued. "They don’t want to be radical on the issue. They don’t want to kill a baby in the seventh month or the ninth month or after birth. And they’re allowed to do that, and you can’t do that."

In his interview, Trump said "people are starting to think of 15 weeks" as "a number that people are talking about right now" in terms of a federal abortion ban, but said he wouldn't sign such legislation as president.

"No, no," he replied.

He went on to call a six-week ban signed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, one of his rivals, "a terrible thing and a terrible mistake."

Trump claimed "the most powerful people that are anti-abortion are okay with" not having a complete and total ban.

The politics of abortion are still there.

Some have talked of federal restrictions on abortion.

Kamala Harris said the other day, that Roe vs. Wade could be reinstated legislatively, through Congress. If efforts for that happen, then you are looking at federal legislation, and not just state by state.

Perhaps the next time Democrats control both houses of Congress and the White House, they will try to pass liberalized abortion legislation. And if they do, it becomes a federal matter at that point.

Overturning Roe vs. Wade is not going to be the last word on abortion, and it may not be a state by state issue forever.

This is the MSM trap they are prepping. They will use the army of single issue women to vote for the rats like they did in 22 by the BS threat of a national abortion ban. There is 0 chance it would clear either house even if both were under GOP control.

“WWJD?”

That depends on whether his goal was to get elected POTUS, or to die on the cross to save us.

Murder is never going to end in this world. All ages, all the time. A federal law will not change it. Since SCOTUS ruling nothing says a state cannot change its laws to restrict further. That is the way. State by state.

Absolutist resolve has given us more states with legalized 9 month abortions than ever. Like or not zero flexibility means more murdered babies because it sends the selfish single women to the rats in droves.

Abortion is a 10th amendment issue...Fedzilla has no jurisdiction on the matter.

Trump’s right, for the wrong reason. Too bad he is unable to articulate that.

“States rights. Done. Over. Move on.“

Exactly!
Not a national issue.
