Come on Trump, how is Joe supposed to get his 10% without USA pumping much more money to Zelensky than we pay to Israel every year?

appeasement doesn’t work ... thought he was smarter than this

if this is Trump’s foreign policy, then he just handed the Dems & their Big Media pals a club they will use to beat him

peace. “So they could have made a deal where there’s less territory [lost] than Russia has already taken,” Trump continued. “They could have made a deal where nobody was killed…they would have had a Ukrainian country….”

I wholeheartedly agree.

All of those shattered lives and destroyed infrastructure never had to happen.

And ukraine would’ve been better off if they had avoided it.

He is absolutely right. A gentleman’s agreement and intelligent compromise could have been reached without either side losing face or showing weakness.

If we had just butted out to let them explore the option...

Probably a lot of wars could have been avoided. Iraq war was started because Bush team insisted Iraq had “weapons of mass destruction.” They mean some barrels of poisonous gas, not nukes, which in any case they were wrong.

Seems everyone was ok with Bush being 100% wrong and sending thousands of Americans to their death, not to mention Iraqi lives.

Crimea would have been Russian but Ukraine would have retained its coast and ports. The Donbas would have stayed within Ukraine but with guarantees of freedom of language and culture by its inhabitants, plus political representation.
And the nationalist war on them would have to STOP.

Zaporozhye and Kherson would not have held separation referendums if their cultural diversity was peacefully respected.

Ukraine would stay neutral and protected, but not a member of NATO, no NATO bases.

Basically this is what the comedian campaigned on, as a “ peace candidate”

Yep, should have at least tried to have a peaceful negotiation.

All of our brilliant Ivy-league and military think-tank strategic thinkers should have seen very clearly where this was leading in 2013, especially since they encouraged it.

Ukraine never had to give up land, not even Crimea. It could have been kept whole, and focused on developing itself and eliminating corruption.

All they had to do was simply declare, like Austria after WWII, they would be a neutral country.

But since Ukraine was never were a real country, and its “elite” class simply focused on stripping the country and enriching themselves, the place was always going to be corrupt, divided and controlled by others - first by Russians, and then after 2013, by the USA and NATO.

The intelligence community doesn’t overthrow governments so they can “avoid conflict.”

Ah, yes ... trading land for peace. That always works.

How many of y’all think Israel should go that route?

Someone explain to Trump that Putin doesn’t want peace. He wants Ukraine as he clearly explained here

Maybe.

Might have been a Neville Chamberlain moment.

Personally, I suspect Russia was gunning for it no matter what, and after the first war I can see Ukraine being a bit hesitant to trust them.

But Russia is on a demographic clock. Perhaps giving Moscow a little more room would have bought enough time the Russians aged out of military action.
One of those “What ifs?” that while entertaining, are moot at this point.

These headlines are hilarious. I think the Trump support comes from people to LISTEN to him and the Trump hate comes from people who “read what he said”

There was the Minsk agreement in which the EU side said last year our side had no intention of keeping as it was only a tool to buy time. That is called dishonesty in my book. Then a handful of other negotiations seeking relief from the bitter fighting in the Donetsk and Luhansk areas which had been going on since 2014. That was the Obama administration’s orchestrated revolution. Those negotiations continued until just before the Russian incursion of 2022.

In other words there were plenty of opportunities to resolve the conflict. But they didn’t have our champion. If Donald Trump had been part of any of these negotiations there is no doubt in my mind there would be no war and this country would be much better off.

Trump’s account of the Ukraine war is fictional nonsense.

Putin did not give Ukraine an ultimatum that was rejected; he simply invaded, thinking he was going to conquer Ukraine in 2 weeks.

It is true that Biden’s Afghan fiasco emboldened Putin, but that is not Ukraine’s fault.

At root, Trump is lacking the fight gene. He will never, ever, fight

He just can’t bring himself to actually fight. If he can’t make a deal, he just gives up.
