I guess the Russians never learned about the elections conducted in Ukraine after 2014. Regardless of what anybody thinks of Yanukovych's resignation in response to votes by the Ukrainian Parliament, President Zelensky was elected by the people of Ukraine in 2019.

Russian leaders often attempt to recapture all of the territory ever ruled by Russia. Lenin tried to retake Poland in 1920 (but failed miserably). Stalin was back in 1939, carving up Poland with Hitler just like their Austrian, Prussian, and Russian ancestors did in 1815.

Then the “Man of Steel” gobbled up Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. Finland was next on the great dictator’s menu, since the Tsars once ruled that as well. The Finns put up excellent resistance, however (just like today’s Ukraine). Stalin had to settle for only part of Finland.

Poland will supposedly be Putin’s next victim if Ukraine falls. Poland is part of NATO and under the U.S. “nuclear umbrella,” however. Only if America degenerates into civil war will the Hammer & Sickle fly over Warsaw again...
