A memo sent to donors Saturday from the presidential campaign of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis criticizes former President Donald Trump and dismisses other GOP rivals, even as his own polling numbers drop and remain stagnant.
The memo, first obtained and reported on by CBS News, reassures donors and supporters of the campaign's confidence in the governor's standing ahead of next Wednesday's primary debate in California. It encourages them to "help echo the governor's message" on social media throughout the debate, and comes as the latest campaign finance quarter ends Sept. 30.
DeSantis "is the only candidate that can beat both Joe Biden and Donald Trump, and we are the only campaign built for the long haul in terms of resources and organization," DeSantis campaign manager James Uthmeier writes in the memo.
In an interview on Friday with Iowa radio host Simon Conway, DeSantis said that while the debates are important, he doesn't think "most voters are making up their minds in September."

Oh, I forgot... for desantis, illegal acts like FEC violations, as well as other laws or regulations, don't seem to matter.
And isn't the claim desanctimonious is the "only candidate that can beat biden and Trump" still being echoed here?
Well... mostly the beat biden part, the polls only matter for beating biden, and still don't matter as far as beating Trump, it seems.
And as far as voters not making up their minds in September....

I had the displeasure of looking at a Fox show this afternoon and was reading some of the captions. Kimberly Strassel spoke of DeSantis as one of the front runners.
Throwing it out to the FR world, what does the term “front runner” mean?
I always thought it meant the person that was, you know, out front. The person in the lead or one of the people in a very close race to the top where everyone is separated by a point or two.
She, and the others, started to talk about Haley and some of the others needing to have a really big night so the voters can have a chance to see what they’re all about.
What am I getting wrong or missing? Have I been wrong all this time about who a ‘front runner’ is?
Fox talking heads have probably been told to minimize the existance of Trump as much as possible, and not to build up support or expectations that Trump will be in the primary or eligable to run for president.
Otherwise, there is only 1 frontrunner, and that person is Trump, right now.
I live in Florida. In my opinion Jeb Bush was better governor than DeSantis. Taxes have gone up more, Insurance has gone up more, utilities have gone up more, under DeSantis than Bush. DeSantis is too busy fighting Disney and running for president while he is governor. Jeb at least waited until he was out of office.
If your candidate is 40 point behind, he is still a front runner if he is ahead of others who are in single digits. HAHAHA.
