The correct moniker is lazy ass government employees. They ARE the problem and they need to go one way or another. As for those “citizens” impacted by a shutdown, they can get jobs. Social Security and Medicare are not affected by a shutdown. So exactly who is really affected? Just grifters.

in past shutdowns, the govt. workers weren't hurt alt all. They received the pay they should have lost, retroactively. No loss. Just a small, paid vacation.

And, I didn't even know the govt. was shutdown. Didn't feel any effects of it.

And, IIRC, they are all made ‘whole’ once the ‘shutdown’ is resolved...
The only pain they feel is short term, which they should have already accounted for in their personal budgeting.

Using FedGov empolyee pain as a tool to force the GOPe to cave is a red herring argument, at best.

No! We are 1/2 problem and the people we elect are the other half. Government workers are just the visible symptom. Too many of us believe in fairy tale economics and readily fall for the idea that there’s always a good reason to spend money. Never a good reason or cut or just not spend.

In a normal, sane, common sense world... this would be a no-brainer for McCarthy. Either get what the majority of reps in the House wants from the Democrats in the deal, or shut it down.
