FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- Tuesday, Governor Gavin Newsom signed several landmark gun control bills into law but acknowledged there will likely be legal challenges that could make it to the Supreme Court.

In total, he signed 23 new laws related to guns.

"It's great what we're doing, but it may not be enough," said Newsom.

Senate Bill 2 (SB 2) will double the training time required of those renewing or seeking a concealed carry permit.

SB 2 raises the age requirement to have a CW to 21.

The law will also ban people from carrying guns in nearly all public places, including at public demonstrations, amusement parks, churches and banks.

--- "Governor Newsom signs nearly 2 dozen gun safety laws"

When one comprehensive law is simply not enough. Probably wants to keep the litigation busy with "parts and pieces."

These laws are solely intended to punish gun owners for being gun owners.

“These laws are solely intended to punish gun owners for being gun owners.”

Some liberal admitted that years ago, that the laws were to punish wrong thinking firearm owners, rather than to promote safety.

California Republicans — if there are any left — should seek legislation stripping security details from all elected officials.

Unconstitutional Lawfare by the left at an industrial scale. They know this crap won’t stand, but until it’s slapped down, they’re going to enforce it. Then, there will be no penalty for their grievous blatant disregard of the law and God given rights.

P.S. I don’t know how many public officials in Cali have security details. I know that in the U.S. Congress, there is a status pecking order in which members of the leadership have security at various levels, starting with an officer/driver.

Ordinary Members don’t get this; if they have any sense, they have a staffer drive them, partly for convenience (if you are running the reception circuit around DC and regularly have multiple events to attend, you don’t have time to fool with parking) and partly because even a minor fender bender will start the drunk driving rumor mill.

But leadership figures do have security. I’m guessing it might be the same in Cali.

We should also strip security from top California executive branch officials, mayors, and other members of the nomenklatura. Let them become movie stars if they want security. (And just for the record, only a tiny fraction of actors and other celebrities have security.)

Crap like this should be getting Governors like Newsom, Pritzker, Hochul, etc.. thrown out of office BY LAW.

Governors that consistently go against the Constitution of the United States of America deliberately should be automatically & forcefully removed from office.

People like you are exactly why Biden got away with 2020:

“Oh gosh you guys the democrats win all the time in california so that must mean no cheating happens”

And exactly Zero of them will apply to the criminals who get guns and use them.

It’s feature, not a bug. They get to pander to their base, prop Gruesome up nationally, and when the courts start repealing it point to it as “another reason we have to do something reasonable about the supreme court.” Also I think they are priming the public to accept the SC changes when they finally get the power to do so.

I guess in a few years it’ll be over 100,000...lol

FTA - “…but acknowledged there will likely be legal challenges that could make it to the Supreme Court.”

If the 9 th Circus applies a plain reading of Bruen & decides they’re tired of being the most overturned judicial panel in the entire Federal court system, Gruesome might find out he wasted his time & a perfectly good pen signing those laws. Wishing real hard with crossed fingers…

What is interesting is that they are enforced until the court overturns them. Then a new group of equally egregious laws are passed to continue the cycle.
