Maybe Vivek’s proposal to ban social media for those under 16 (I think that’s the proposed age) is not such a bad idea.
The SAD part is that Roblox wasn’t really social media. It’s a gaming engine and sharing platform for open-sourced games. At least originally, the revenue stream was simply selling what for others required achievements. My son (12) has largely outgrown it, but it used to be a fun way to play. And yes, I had an account so I could keep tabs on him. And yes, I also kept a close eye on feature that could be used as social media. But apparently, since its IPO, Roblox is becoming less a game-sharing platform for budding developers and more a way of serving up kids to seeking to profit off of now-betrayed trust.
