Former President Donald Trump is reportedly planning to sue former British intelligence officer Christopher Steele over his infamous opposition research document on Trump during his 2016 presidential campaign.

The dossier, commonly called the "Steele dossier," has since been discredit and found to have false, misleading and/or inaccurate information.

“The president’s claim seeks remedies including that the inaccurate data contained within the Steele Dossier be erased or rectified together with the payment of damages,” Orbis Business Intelligence attorney Tim Lowles said in a statement, according to the New York Post.

The Independent reports that a two-day hearing on the matter is set to occur Oct. 16. Trump is not expected to attend.

If the suit is allowed to go forward, imagine the scope of discovery that will be pursued. I want some swamp things on the stand and under oath.

If Trump still planning to sue, why is a hearing already scheduled for October 16th? Maybe this is some quirk with the British courts of which I am unaware, but something is missing in this story: In which court will Trump sue Steele?

A judge will rule Trump has no standing to bring the lawsuit.

Can any attorneys here state or postulate a valid cause of action? I don’t see one.

Did he sue him in British courts. The threshold for libel/slander of a public person is way different than here in the USA.

Keep your eyes on the prize.

If The Cankled One goes to jail before I die, I am throwing the Yugest party. It will be great. It will be amazing.
I just hit 60.

Donald Trump suing ex-MI6 spy Christopher Steele at High Court (UK)

Donald Trump is suing a former MI6 officer and the intelligence consultancy he founded, High Court records show.

The former US president is bringing a data protection claim against Orbis Business Intelligence and its founder Christopher Steele, who previously ran the Secret Intelligence Service’s Russia desk.

...

Mr Steele and Orbis Business Intelligence were previously sued for libel by Russian national Aleksej Gubarev over the publication of the dossier, claiming they were legally responsible for BuzzFeed publishing the dossier.

However, in a judgment in October 2020, Mr Justice Warby dismissed the claim.

Discovery goes both ways. Maybe Trump will have to fly to the UK and answer a whole bunch of questions from hostile attorneys, plus produce documents they demand, while in the U.S. he’s defending two civil suits and four criminal indictments AND trying to run a campaign. Steele can probably devote full time to the case.

True, but what I hope is that being in the UK the judge might allow evidence that a judge here would not. Cause Trump...
