I wonder how many dining facilities like Fort Hood are closed due to the shortage of cooks?

This is another indication how senior officers are failing the soldiers they command.

We should have a a smaller military anyways. Its too much money for very little benefit seeing as we are currently being invaded without any end in sight.

How about an Emperor version of uniform.

Like the Emperor’s new clothes.

That would be real camo. Hide among the trans.

I’m afraid Jo Jo intends to keep him until he throws all of the Caucasian Supremacists out of the military. Personally, I think having two U.N. military organizations is redundant.

Simple uniforms are in short supply?? Wow. Talk about a screwed up supply chain.

While the rest of the branches are down, USMC recruitment numbers are up. At Parris Island, a lot of injured are being sent home instead of being allowed time to heal and get back to training. There's just not enough space available. Likely the same issue causing the uniform shortage.

Still blaming covid.

Next up, climate change is driving the need for different camo patterns.

Aren’t there women in the military now that can weave and knit?

Sorry, but my daughter is too busy loading C-130s to deal with sewing.
What a stupid comment.

Hey, Hoodie Cargo shorts, tee shirts and gym shoes. If it is good enough for the Senate, it is good enough for the military.
Or maybe just order the uniforms from China.

What a disgrace! I know no profanity, but I want to/

Who the hell calls them "cammies"?!?!?

That sounds like it goes with a "blankie".

So now we can’t even dress our troops? Pathetic.

That situation at Fort Hood sounds like a bust after a CID investigation, not something widespread across the military. It wouldn't be just at one post if it was manpower issue.

The new rainbow-colored camouflage hasn’t been delivered yet?

The number of Marines in boot camp each year is about 15% (28,000) of the total Marines of about 200,000. That 15% a year having a few extras won’t break a supply chain.

USMC developed their own "cammies" hiding the USMC logo in the pattern. They did this so other services would not use their pattern.

Marines are a small service so suppliers probably focus on bigger clients, such as, the Army.

They don’t need to be wearing camouflage for stateside garrison duties anyway.

Simple solution: let any Marine identifying as female (real or imagined) wear a Tutu!

I guess it’s a bit of a side point, but I don’t understand why today’s military personnel wear camo so often. When in theater, yes of course. Otherwise, why? I actually think it sends the wrong message.

Cost is big factor and having them wear olive drab uniforms stateside and BDUs or DCUs while deployed doubles the uniform allotment.

Deployment timelines is another. Most active duty units are ready to deploy within 24, 48, or 72 hours. That's not enough time to make sure the BDUs that have been packed away are ready to go. Even if the unit doesn't deploy, individuals might be tasked.

I've seen surprises get pulled out of a duffle bag of DCUs such as old rank still sown on the uniform. Some would pull out uniforms that didn't fit anymore, not usually for someone getting fat but for guys who'd been hitting the gym. Some had their old squadron patches still on their uniform too. We had one or two that had name changes after getting divorce but they still had their married name on their DCUs from the last time they deployed.

Instead of constant inspections, it's easier to have them show up every day in a uniform that fits, has all the right patches, has the correct name tapes, and has the correct rank.

The other issue is that they want servicemembers to think of themselves as ready for combat and not just uniformed government employees.

How much of our money was sent to Ukraine? 120 billion? Surely that would have bought a lot of uniforms for OUR troops!
