I think 2024 is going to be an 1860 type election. No matter who wins half the county is not going to accept the winner as legitimate. What happens after that is anyone’s guess

What happens after that is anyone’s guess. It is "anyone's guess" but it is fairly predictable.
One side of the issue has quite a few very easily excited supporters, coordinated and dedicated to "correct" the issue by any means.
Of course, if they win the contest, they will also have the law and the full weight of the globe's strongest government on their side.
