I don’t like seeing these problems among the Republican caucus.
However, McCarthy did break his word and it’s on the most important aspects of the budget process.
As a general matter though, having 8 votes control the house is not Sustainable.

Agreed. Talk about tyranny of the minority.

The Republican caucus in the House was unable to produce 218 votes for ANY budget resolution.

So Gaetz apparently thinks that a caucus that can’t produce 218 votes for ANYTHING is going to win a government shutdown debate with a unified democrat caucus in the House, a unified democrat majority in the Senate, a democrat president, and a party-lining media establishment. Right.

I have a tendency to support playing hardball on the budget, although our track record on “winning” the shutdown wars is not very encouraging.

But the opening bid for playing hardball is having a Republican proposal to put on the table. That means getting 218 Republican votes for SOMETHING.

I do. The sooner the Republican Party is blown up the sooner we might get something better.
