Jim Jordan is McCarthy-Lite.

Probably. But he saw what happened to McCarthy.

Jim, you need to FIRST stop any funding until Biden starts building the wall and seals the border. That’s your #1 starting point.

“In the past he had said he did not want to be speaker. What changed?”

He will be accepted by both factions. We may not like him because of his support for McCarthy but I think he brings class and maturity to the position.

I would vote for him.

I’m can’t figure out why the Dems were so gleeful when McCarthy, a moderate, and more in line with them, was booted out and why they voted 100% against him. They may get their worst nightmare, a Speaker who is a hard-core conservative or, at least, someone much more conservative than McCarthy.

What were they thinking?

I think Jordan wanted the position he now has because he had subpoena power.

“He was solidly in McCarthy’s corner. We can do a lot better than Jim Jordan. Jim Jordan is McCarthy-Lite.”

Who? There were eight Republicans who voted for McCarthy. Of those eight, NONE OF THEM will get votes except by the other seven. Jordan is a good choice.

Who ever replaces McCarthy, I hope it’s a true Trump supporter. With Trumps dominance in the party, a speaker that is also MAGA would help to marginalize the corrupt deepstate establishment block.

We need a speaker that will not make back room deals with the likes of pelosi, jeffries, biden and zelinski. Any establishment speaker will continue in McCarthys shadow and nothing will change.

I think at this point Jordan could be the best choice. We’ll have to see what follows

I’d be okay with Jordan. He’s probably the best we can get, too. And since he’s seen how easy it would be to be replaced I think he might stay more to the right.

McCarthy called their bluff and lost is how I read this.

Yes, but where is his heart at? Challenge the status quo or just get along, lots of talk, no action. We need a bomb thrower, someone that will use the position not just a grudging caretaker.

So you are in agreement with AOC, The Squad and 202 lefty Dems congressman who voted McCarthy out, 95% of all Dem congressman voted with these 8 . We just played right into the lefty hands and will now lose the House and Presidency because the Dems will play this as the do nothing congress. Just childish. I campaigned and donated $s for Trump in 2016 and 2020, and will vote for him but will save my $s and time.

He was solidly in McCarthy's corner.

So was Trump -- probably for the same reason. When the GOP House members held their vote last year to select the party's candidate for the House Speaker position, McCarthy had the support of almost 190 House Republicans out of the 218 he needed to be elected as Speaker.

At the time, it was a no-brainer. When one candidate has 190 supporters and the rest of them have about 30 COMBINED, it's hard to make the case that someone other than the front-runner should be elected.

All this Now What stuff.

Suppose you get whatever Speaker you want.

Then govt shutdown arrives. What do you want him to do? Did you want to celebrate 8% reduction in spending and cheer that this is the right direction? You do realize 8% reduction in spending looks like 0.5T and spending is 6.3T? That looks like the $1.6T deficit becomes $1.1T, yes?

You realize that’s not the correct math? You cut 8% spending, that is dollars no one pays taxes on. That 500 billion not spent is about 100 billion in taxes not paid. Govt spending is also part of the GDP equation so you just took 500B off of GDP.

Now before you jump up and say this is philosophically stupid and you can’t spend your way to wealth . . . just what did you think was holding the economy together now that there is $33T in debt? $33T doesn’t go away because you reduce spending 8%. It grows. IT GROWS.

In a very general sense, congratulations, you have arrived at a problem with no solution. What will you do? You will pretend.

I am guessing he is being lobbied by both sides to do it. Gatez has listed him as one he would support and so have some of Gatez critics

You’ve posted the same sh!t on at least a half-dozen threads this morning. Why don’t you bring something original to the table and discuss the subject matter of this thread.
