I was called for jury duty several times. My employer would pay our salary/wages if we just signed over the check we were given for jury duty.
Employers do that do be sure you actually had to go that day. Most jury commissioners have a call in system in the morning and they waive the jurors off for the day unless voir dire is on the schedule. Typically, employees treat that as a day off. Exchanging pay for jury duty checks is how HR people recommend this be regulated since a person waived off for the day is not entitled to jury pay and therefore has no check to exchange.
