DeSantis says Jordan and Scalise are 'both good guys'
NBC News ^ | October 4, 2023 | Emma Barnett and Zoë Richards

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis had positive things to say today about Scalise and Jordan when asked about their respective speaker bids, but he stopped short of saying who he would prefer to see in the top House post.

"I know both of those guys," DeSantis, a Republican presidential candidate, said of his former House colleagues. "They’re both good guys."

In his remarks to reporters at an event in Greenville, South Carolina, DeSantis spoke in broad terms about what the next speaker needs to do.

"You can’t just say, continue business as usual. You got to be somebody that understands we need a fundamentally different path here," he said.

DeSantis went on to say that GOP leaders are often out of step with their voters compared with Democrats.

"I think the Republican Party for a long time has had problems with leadership that’s not reflective of the voters that put them there. Whereas on the other side, the Democrat leadership is representative of where their voters are in a lot of issues."

DeSantis has shared more in several interviews yesterday and today. He clearly didn't like McCarthy.

A key point of criticism from DeSantis here and elsewhere is that Republican leadership in Congress “are often out of step with their voters.” And I wonder which of the candidates can better have a pulse on voters instead of on making nice with their fellow politicians and Democrats inside the Beltway?

It would be good to know where all of the candidates stand, plus sitting governors around the country. All will depend on the speaker, may be able to help him. I’d rather trust the whole lot of Republican governors than a bunch of too-often RINOs in the house.

Nice guys?

Nice guys finish last.

Leo Durocher is best remembered for saying, “Nice guys finish last.” He never said it. What the Brooklyn Dodgers’ manager did say, before a 1946 game with the New York Giants, was: “The nice guys are all over there. In seventh place.”

There have been several times when Jim Jordan was asked, begged even, to take an open leadership position.
Everytime, he has said ‘No’, for his own reasons. This has gone on for years, before, during and after the embarrassing John Boehner Era.

I figure, Jim just didn’t want to be the top man who gets all the blame if things don’t go well. That is his choice. Best to be honest. Now, suddenly, Jim says that he wants to be Speaker. Is that right?

Leave him as a deputy or something, he’s got a lot going on in his life. I think and and Jordan feel pressured to jump in, neither seem energetic.

I was happy to get more money from trump than Biden. Went right to my mortgage principal. Trump was good at giving us free money.

Scalise is next inline. He was a part of the leadership. If McCarthy stepped down on his own Steve would have been the top choice. All of this makes it clear he absolutely should not be the next speaker. Torpedoing the speaker only to put in his swamp approved successor would be something Gaetz could do to make me no longer support his stink bomb in the heart of the Repuke conference.

Most of them are bribed in various ways, blackmailed and/or threatened.
The left has made compromising powerful people into an industry.
They use the alphabet agencies to spy out people. They use Epstien types to honeytrap people financially, sexually and in other ways. They have other avenues, too.
They are extremely good at it and very pervasive with it. It is at the heart of their power.
Until this is completely dealt with the cancer in our Country will continue.
I am wondering if we should have secret panels that people confess their entrapments to. They receive amnesty, but must do what they can to make up for their deeds. Some of the deeds may be incredibly evil, but as long as they stay clean they can save face. If they are found to compromise and practice their evil deeds again there will be the strictest penalties, even the death penalty.
Somehow and in some way the evil that lies underneath all the compromise and corruption has to be revealed and dealt against.
