Former President Donald Trump is considering a visit to the U.S. Capitol early next week, as House Republicans consider who should be the next speaker, two GOP lawmakers and two Trump allies confirmed to NBC News.

The former president, who has not set foot on Capitol grounds since prior to the Jan. 6 riot, is considering making an appearance in an effort to “unify the party,” according to one Republican lawmaker who discussed the possibility with a member of Trump’s inner circle Thursday morning.

While a small handful of Republican lawmakers have suggested Trump himself should serve as the next speaker, the former president said Wednesday his focus is on reclaiming the White House, and the two Republican lawmakers said they don’t believe he’s seriously interested in the position.

Rep. Nehls was on War Room today. Said he’s nominating Trump in Tuesday.

There’s going to be a throwaway round of voting with ten candidates and none winning (unless some GOP are stupid enough to vote for Jeffries), and then once everyone’s had their say, the second round will only have two candidates, the GOP one and Jeffries, and we’ll get back to the usual business.

One good thing about this is that we won’t have to see Rankin wearing a doorag this time around.

Whether in the running for Speaker or not, President Trump’s high-visibility participation in this process seems good to me. Plus it’ll give his enemies heart
failure. 😉

It sounds like Trump would be going as the leader of the Republican Party to help set the priorities and urgency of negotiations.

That “heart failure” thing. Love it. Exploding heads would be a nice touch, too.

I remember how a couple of years ago, most of us gladly would have campaigned for Jim Jordan to be speaker. I get the analogies to Trey Gowdy, but we could do a lot worse.

Trump has a beautiful vineyard just south of Charlottesville, Va.

I can’t believe Trump has never had one taste of wine in his entire life. It’s a gift from the gods to us mortals on earth. What a shame.

One could see it as a defense of Trump against an TDS suffering adult troll, who equates Trump with a dumpster fire.

Nice adults in your TDS therapy group
