The Biden administration plans to move forward with new border wall construction along the U.S.-Mexico border, a policy that Democrats have viewed as a "racist" and "ineffective" solution to flaws in the immigration system.
resident Biden, speaking after his administration announced border wall construction in Texas, said at the White House on Thursday that he tried to "redirect" the money for the project and denied that border walls work.
Biden's comments contrast those made on Wednesday by Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, who cited an "acute and immediate need" to waive 26 federal laws to construct border walls in the Rio Grande Valley Sector.
Mayorkas later seemed to walk back his comments, claiming they were "taken out of context" and did not suggest a change in policy.
The resident has previously promised that not a "single foot" of new border wall would be installed under his leadership.
Proposed policies to create barriers along the southern border have led to contentious debate among public officials for decades but reached a fever pitch under the Trump administration.
In December 2018, Trump demanded $5 billion for his wall, but a standoff ensued with Democrats spearheaded by then-Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y. and House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi of California.
Both Schumer and Pelosi had been vocally opposed to Trump's border wall plans since he announced his campaign in 2015. At the time, Trump claimed that Mexico would pay to install the wall. However, he backed away from this campaign promise throughout his presidency.
In April 2017, Pelosi said the wall was "immoral, expensive and unwise," pointing out that Trump never said he would pass billions of funding onto taxpayers.

I think this is part of an exit strategy for Potemkin Joe. The DNC knows it needs to do something about the invasion to have any hope of winning in 2024. Potemkin Joe is very damaged at this point and he will soon exit allowing someone else to not have the disastrous policies Biden put in place to explain.

More election lies. He sold the wall parts a couple months ago.
He already sold off all the materials as scrap. Take a year to even approve bids and get everything ready to resume. Because of the bureaucracy it takes time. He is talking like it will resume tomorrow. It doesn’t work that way.

Certainly a great talking point for the R nominee, who I pray is not Trump, who I voted for twice but won’t again.

They said this was down by McAllen and I’m trying to think of where the Feds own enough property on the river to install 20 miles of fence. Only place I can think of is a national park east of McAllen.

Mexico has Mr Biden by the cojones. Biden’s deputies are forced into offering multiple $$$$$ concessions to Mexican President Andres Manuel López Obrador.
A nervous Biden hopes his bribes and payoffs will convince Obrador to conceal the huge and unpopular flow of illegal migrants into the US during the 2024 campaign season.
Obrador has the power to embarrass Biden during the 2024 campaign with 24/7 televised eruptions of migrants — such as the September 2021 rush of 15,000 Haitians at Del Rio, Texas.
President Trump opined, “The government of Mexico views their control over immigration as a bargaining chip in any conversation they have with the Biden govt.”
Because of catastrophic Biden screwups, the US can no longer act from a position of strength.
Mexico’s Marxist leaning govt is reveling in its new found strength over Biden’s America. It can now demand big concessions from the US, while pocketing cash from the NGOs that clueless Biden swarmed into the country to facilitate the movement of illegals.
It’s (D)ifferent when Biden does it.
This Biden border wall is a media stunt to deliver a placibo to the minorities and fractious democrats who are squeeling about the invasion to their cities. The walling will also serve as a control point to better funnel and then fly the invaders more evenly to every city in the US. Watch and see.
