A BBQ at the white house for staff isn’t bizzare to me. Timing is off but maybe a good thing since pro Palestine idiots were protesting outside the gates to free Palestine (a non existent country) but that would have been coincidence not planned.

Surely the bbq arrangements for the planned event were set some time ago. Under the circumstances, it should have continued, BUT a real POTUS would have made a 5 - 10 minute appearance since he was at the WH, thank everyone, apologize for having to leave to tend to the unexpected demands of the office and then exit to the Oval Office to work.
In FJB’s case, this would have required a teleprompter to be set up at a BBQ, give him a hand full of instruction cards, and having the Easter Bunny costumed staffer sitting in the front row to lead him away from the party as soon as he read “end of speech” off the teleprompter.
Probably closer to reality is like when obozo visited the WH, FJB was wandering around the crowd, looking for someone to talk and everyone either ignoring him or smirking.
