Without the illusion of some sort of ability to accomplish something, anything, it will make being re-elected unlikely.
I hate Republican politicians. Sadly, they are the only alternative to the pure evil that is the Democrat party.
There is nothing sacred about getting things done. Conservatism is not getting things done because conservatism opposes government intrusion into life.
Looking ahead to the Nov CR date, you cannot stomp your feet and demand the ultimate in border control features, pre-approved Senate agreement to vote for impeachment, elimination of all LGBT programs from DoD and other agencies . . . you will not get that through.
You can get Ukraine funding cut maybe almost all the way to zero. You can maybe get a few % spending cut off of the debt ceiling legislation total. And you can probably get some border control funding, since the blue recipients of shipped illegals are screaming at the WH.
We CAN get those items. But we’ll have to have a Speaker who wants those items. You can probably get a CR that the majority of the conference will approve.
In the final analysis, that’s all that is required of a Speaker. Only advance legislation that the majority of the House GOP will vote for.

I wouldn’t vote for a Democrat for dogcatcher. ‘Burn It Down’ is popular with some Freepers, but it’s not going to win any elections. Ufortunately the Dems are the only party with a united front and with a plan for America. It’s a terrible plan, but right now all Republicans can do is virtue signal and stab each other in the back. Trump could well win the election in 2024 and face a Dem Senate and Dem House.
