Israel warns 1.1 million Palestinians to evacuate northern Gaza Strip within 24 hours: report

Israel has warned the UN that 1.1 million Palestinians should evacuate the northern Gaza Strip within the next 24 hours, according to a report.

The Israeli Ministry of Defense and its army suggested UN staff and Gazans flee to the southern portion of the strip, an indication of a stronger, more intense attack to come against Hamas by the Jewish nation.

“Today, just before midnight local time, team leaders of the UN Office of the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and the Department of Safety and Security in Gaza were informed by their liaison officers in the Israeli military that the entire population of Gaza north of Wadi Gaza should relocate to southern Gaza within the next 24 hours,” UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric told Axios.

The notification was issued to ensure that the roughly 1.1 million people who live in the area would be spared by Israel’s planned military actions and operations.

But the evacuation is “impossible,” Dujarric said, adding that it would cause “devastating humanitarian consequences.”

The short-notice evacuation warning comes just hours after Israel declared a “complete siege” on the enclave, including halting supplies of electricity, food, water and fuel.

I watched the IDF briefing at 12:20 EST. The evacuation is for residents in Gaza city. That’s approximately 590k. They are to move south of the Gaza River (Gaza Wadi).

Hamas has put out a counter statement saying the residents of Gaza City should not comply. Israel is waging psychological warfare and Gaza residents should stay in place. That was reported on N12 News.

Is the intent to clear civilians to then deal with armed Islamic Hamas? Or to raze that portion of Gaza? I suspect a lot of people will stay as Israel already has a history from 1948 of not letting people back to their lands, which is a grievance many Palestinians hold. Either way, Israel has now set a countdown on the next step of their war against Islamic Hamas.

Thks is what I thought they might do short of a total conquest and occupation: jam the Gaza population into the SouthWest part of Gaza and 1-2km away from the current boundary.

Gaza City encompasses pretty much everything north of Wadi Gaza, so I think the 1.1 million is more accurate.

This is what Hamas always does. They don’t just tell the Gaza civilians to stay, the force them to stay. That way, when Israel rains down their vengeance then Hamas will have their “innocent” bodies to parade in front of the media.

Specially that was from the IDF. I would be surprise that some other part of Israel’s government will say something conflicting in the future. That’s a typical problem between political entities and the military. As for the UN, Eff the UN. They can’t do anything correct. The UN is not a credible source.

It’s good they have allowed evacuation of civilians. It’s sad that they won’t have homes to return to. Something to remember when you go to vote, it has consequences.

I suspect that Israel plans on letting them back, since they have closed borders preventing them from moving on. Would be nice for the pro-Hamas worldwide governments to accept these people as the “political dissenters” they say they are.
