It is going to be messy, and I suspect a number of those human shields will die in the process. I don’t see that Israel has any choice in the matter.
Fatah consists of religious zealots too. There has been some trouble in the “West Bank” (Judea/Samaria) and “East” Jerusalem as well.
There were no “Palestinians” in 1948. As the PLO’s Zuheir Mohsen infamously said, “The Palestinian people does not exist.”
Not Israel’s fault that the Arabs rejected the 1947 partition plan. Do you know what the phrase “from the river to the sea” means? Are you for the Arabs ejecting the Jews from Israel utterly?
Opus?
Yes, but Fatah (or rather, the Palestinian Authority) is supposedly charged with keeping order. There will be some random acts of violence and protest here and there - I see it is as unavoidable especially with regards to the holy sites in Jerusalem acting as inciting events. But those have been small in nature relatively speaking compared to Hamas over the last decade. I know, there have been some horrible atrocities like the bus bombings and the Dolphinium nightclub attack among others. One thing at a time though. Eradicating the Hamas war machine may change the internal dynamics in Fatah to where the moderates will keep a lid on their radicals.
Thanks, PJT! Nice to see she hasn’t retired yet.
