... and Hamas always keeps its word. A contract signed under duress is not valid. Hamas is under duress from the bombing, Israel from the very act of taking hostages.
If Israel folds because they took hostages, it will encourage them to take more hostages. No dealing with hostage takers, only kill them. It is a cold calculation, but bargaining with hostage takers will only mean more hostages in the future.

Stop bombing, secure the hostages, then resume bombing. That simple.

That’s my question. As I understand, Israel has compulsory military service, and after that you’re considered in the reserves. (Not sure how far that goes for women.)

If you ever want your Palestinian Hamas prisoners released after their sentences are served, release the hostages now. Otherwise, if you harm them we will execute our Hamas prisoners rather than release them. You will never see them again except in Hell. Most likely you will be there to greet them when they arrive.

As another freeper mentioned, Israel should counter-offer “You release all of the hostages, and they need to be in good shape, then we stop bombing.”
No doubt many are already dead. Either shot dead or died from torture and rape. Then Israel can start bombing again.
There was an Israeli father that when he found out his 8-year old daughter had died in the initial attacks he was SO happy. She didn’t have to suffer through what Hamas would have done to her if she had been taken alive.

That was the second "WTF" of this ordeal. The first part was that they succeeded with the attack in the first place. The question I have is what gave them the confidence to proceed, the confidence that it would even work. What factors made them decide that it was "go time" to do it. Those need answers, that will probably eventually be discovered in due time.
