A Starbucks barista’s secret note on a cup to a young female customer offering to “intervene” after a man started talking to her has generated heated debate online.
Texas woman Brandy Selim Roberson first shared the story in a viral Facebook post last year.
She praised the employee for stepping in when her 18-year-old daughter was approached by a man she didn’t know while studying by herself at a Corpus Christi location.
The message on the cup read, “Are you okay? Do you want us to intervene? If you do, take the lid off the cup.”

Author Rachel Wilson wrote, “Feminism has created mass hysteria that men are nothing but violent assault machines, and that the only thing stopping them from enslaving the entire female sex is feminist activism and laws. It’s insanity and it must stop. Women’s studies departments should be shut down.”

What Are Men Supposed to Do? Never go to starbucks
Then one sees all the TikTok videos of women complaining men no longer approach them.
Don’t approach younger women you don’t know. That’s creepy
The modern Western woman doesn’t need a man in her life, but requires the support of entire police departments, plus baristas in coffee shops, to protect her from all of the strange men she meets in life.
Exactly.
The employees did the right thing. This is aggressive behavior and some men don't know how to act in public. Sometimes it's just an annoyance, sometimes it's more.
Huh? How many extreme male creeps meet women at Starbucks, rather than at a bar?
The barista did the right thing. But maybe some people will think this is male chauvinism or mansplaining or whatnot.
What kind of women go to starbucks , I’ve been there
Reverse the roles and they’d have done nothing.
Just those who drink Darksheare's coffee...
There is nothing remotely attractive about young women today. Even my opportunity to be a randy old man has been stolen from me
Once upon a time brothers, sons and fathers who were nearby made short work of men that pestered women...
“Don’t approach younger women you don’t know. That’s creepy.”
Well, sure, if you’re a 50 year-old man, don’t approach a young woman you don’t know in Starbucks.
But what if you’re a young man in the same age? It’s “creepy” now to strike up a conversation? “Oh, you’re reading Crime and Punishment? Such a great novel!” That sort of thing is out of bounds now?
That’s because men and women are different and most people respond to that reality.
She should get up and leave. It’s unfair that women have to deal with it but if it’s aggressive she may have no choice. I’ve seen it happen all too often.
Yes, unless you drive up in a Ferrari and look like Brad Pitt, you’re not worth the attention of today’s young women
“What Are Men Supposed to Do? Never go to starbucks”
Most well-off men steer clear of Starbucks. Guess a pricey coffee doesn’t quite stir their interest!
> The barista did the right thing. <
I totally agree. She didn’t make a scene. She didn’t raise a big fuss. She just asked if the customer was okay. One person unobtrusively looking out for another. We need more of that.
