"It Takes a Starbucks." - by Hillary Rodham Clinton
Regards,
I’m missing the connection to feminism.
If someone intervened when he or she thought my granddaughter was being harassed, I’d have nothing but thanks and I wouldn’t worry about ideological labels.
A bit annoying maybe but not creepy.
If you don't want to talk to them you can just say that. If you can not say that, then you need to learn. It is a crucial skill for an adult.
Yes, intervening in a "situation" between a prostitute and her "John" is the right thing to do!
Did she offer you a "free one" in exchange?
Regards,
If I was sitting in an airport lounge and a stranger were to come up to a young woman seated next to me and started talking to her in an aggressive or animated or weird way, I would lean over and ask her if she was ok.
I don’t think that would make me a feminist. It’s called being a gentleman.
This is the money quote:
At the time, Roberson said, “The man was very loud and animated … She looked up and just saw a row of baristas staring at her — ready to step in.
We have watched all sorts of videos of how bad or loud behaviors can be in public places. This could have been a street guy, all the Starbucks have them. He could have been a different race or ethnicity and be using clumsy or entitled behaviors.
I was talking about American life, not the author of a book, or even individual leaders.
I was addressing the vast effect of the expanding female influence into everything from factories to law, to corporations and politics, to the military, education, and all walks of life and how over the last 60 years that is creating an Orwellian America of control and oversight over all human behavior and thought.
“”””If I was sitting in an airport lounge and a stranger were to come up to a young woman seated next to me and started talking to her in an aggressive or animated or weird way, I would lean over and ask her if she was ok.””””
I would do the same and have many times, my way was usually just to walk up to her and him and say hi to them both and then turn to her and address her in some meaningless way.
It is how they learn to handle situations were there is no one to come to their rescue.
Adults should know how to say, "I am not interesting in talking to you, please go away." If they are unable to do that they are not adults but children who had very bad parents.
Leave people alone.
There are a lot of creeps out there.
I don’t think what you describe is what was happening.
Men shouldn’t approach or talk to children.
Men shouldn’t approach or talk to women.
Men shouldn’t speak to anyone other than other men, as long as those men aren’t queer. Or transsexual. Or transvestites. Or above some predetermined age.
Better yet, men shouldn’t go out in public.
Or even speak to anyone, so they don’t feel threatened.
Everyone would be much safer and more comfortable that way.
We are unable to talk to people unless we are formally introduced and yet jumping into bed with someone you have exchanged less then a dozen words with is acceptable behavior.
I would like some consistency if you please with a side of logic.
Logic? Are we still allowed to do that?
Oh well....
I’ve been known to say “Unhand her, you fiend!”
Best reply was after the dude in front of me grabbed his gal’s butt. “NEVER!”, says he.
“Good answer!”, I replied...
Perception is not always reality. Not defending anything. Just pointing out the double standard.
You’re being ridiculous
The fact that you don’t acknowledge there are some creepy dudes out there
There are some useless women out there too. Avoid them
It is a crucial skill. Doesn’t protect one from a creeper
