A very dear friend of mine, late of this world was an artillery sergeant in Vietnam and was in charge of a four gun battery of 175mm self-propelled howitzers.

I've never seen one of those and I understand they're no longer in use but he told me when those rounds impacted even miles from his location he said you could feel the earth shake.

His battery once annihilated an entire battalion of NVA regulars. Said he caught them in a draw between two hills and just wiped them out in a matter of minutes.
