Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel's office on Oct. 19 dismissed the case against one of the 16 Republican presidential electors charged in connection with the 2020 election.
The dismissal of the case against James Renner, 76, came after he agreed to "cooperate fully" with the attorney general's investigation, his lawyer Clint Westbrook said in a statement to multiple publications.
"After conversations with the Attorney General's office, all charges against our innocent client, Jim Renner, were dismissed," Mr. Westbrook said.
Mr. Renner was one of 16 Republican presidential electors charged with eight felony counts of fraud and election forgery in connection with the 2020 election after they signed certificates claiming that former President Donald Trump won Michigan.

Michigan AG Dismisses Case Against Trump 2020 Republican Elector in Cooperation Deal
So he is going to make up lies for the Democrats?
That’s how it works. You have 16 accused, you give one a deal to send the rest to the gallows.
The biggest threat to our nation today is the Democrat’s use of Lawfare to attack those opposed to them.
Nessel belongs in jail.
Promises of “dismissal” if you say what THEY want you to say.
I’m an Electoral College nerd and I still don’t understand what - exactly - the so-called “fake electors” did that was a crime.
When one votes in November, one is voting for a slate of Electors named by a political party, chosen (usually) for their canine-level loyalty.
One slate “wins”, the others all lose. The winners get certificates of ascertainment from (usually) the Governor, the losers don’t.
After the winners meet in their State capital and transmit their votes, along with their certificates, to the Seat of Government of the United States, the Electors cease to be Electors, the losing would-be Electors cease to be that as well.
I mean, I wrote my name in as NH representative in Congress, I got one vote, do I commit a crime by walking down a public street calling myself “Congressman Jim”?
What, exactly, did the losing Republican nominated Electors in Michigan DO that constitutes a crime?
Yes.
“do I commit a crime by walking down a public street calling myself Congressman Jim”
That is what they are saying. Specifically all of these cases are for “impersonation of a government official.” Laws designed to prevent people from impersonating a cop or fireman and being used to jail people who claim to be a presidential elector.
It’s very Orwellian. It criminalizes contesting any election.
