McCarthy made promises he never planned on keeping because he had made a deal with Pelosi that she would make sure the democrats voted for him should a motion to vacate the chair be filed. He trusted her. She lied (of course and as usual). Anyone who trusts Pelosi doesn’t need the speaker’s gavel.
