Speaking to a gathering of his AK party faction in parliament, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan says that Israel “can view Hamas as a terrorist organization along with the West. The West owes you a lot. But Turkey does not owe you anything.”
“Hamas is not a terrorist organization, it is a group of mujahideen defending their lands,” he says to a standing ovation.
Erdogan also says he is canceling plans to visit Israel because of its “inhumane” war.

In a lot of ways he’s right with this. When Hamas took over Gaza in 2007, they were voted in by the people of the area. They didn’t just come in and conquer.
Decisions on how a person wants to run his/her life is the foundation of democracy and has been the mainstay practice for the US since the writing and ratification of the Constitution in 1789. It’s when we stray from this that we have problems.
But by using this freedom we also place ourselves into the responsibility of how our nation runs. If we vote in people who are going to cause death and pain to the citizens, then that is the citizens’ responsibility as much as the people voted in.
So what is really in Gaza is a group of people placed in charge and the citizenry putting and keeping them in charge that do so allowing those people to take those life decision away at whim. So is Hamas to blame. Not any more than the citizens that are effected in the region.
