It was all in the timing for new House Speaker Mike Johnson
American Thinker ^ | October 27, 2023 | Robin M. Itzler

Self-serving Representative Matt Gaetz had absolutely no plan beyond “oust House Speaker McCarthy.” Some America First Patriots who support Gaetz claim that his actions “exposes” RINOs in Congress. That makes as much sense as Titanic passengers being happy the ship hit an iceberg because that “exposed” that the luxury liner lacked sufficient lifeboats.

Finally, after three weeks of chaos, Republicans have a Speaker of the House! We wish fourth-term Conservative Representative Mike Johnson of Louisiana complete success. He is currently the vice chairman of the House GOP conference. An attorney by trainng, he’s a former conservative talk radio host and columnist and a man of deep Christian faith who strongly believes in the U.S. Constitution.

But let’s have an honest conversation. By October 25, Republicans absolutely knew they had to elect a speaker and conclude the Gaetz-produced quagmire. Every House Republican from RINO to MAGA knew the situation could not continue another day. While Democrats enjoyed the mischievous entertainment, the American public was growing weary of the clown show.

Johnson's win was all in the timing.

Based on the trajectory taking place in the Republican caucus, if Rep. Mike Johnson had been nominated immediately following McCarthy’s ouster, he would have lost the House floor vote, just as Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan lost the House vote early in the process. Had Louisiana Rep. Steve Scalise been nominated on October 25 when Republicans knew they had to elect a speaker and move forward, Scalise probably would have won the gavel. Johnson is the better choice between Scalise and Minnesota Rep. Tom Emmer, who was also in the running for a few hours.

As Carl Hulse wrote following the vote in “...Man of the House”: SNIP>>>>>

Mike Johnson appears to be a very good choice for Speaker of the House from a conservative's standpoint. Regardless of whether he won the position only due to opportune timing and some desperation on the part of Republicans in the House, he is a welcome change to the position. Just based on his first speech as Speaker it's easy to see him rising head and shoulder's above McCarthy.

But this author is correct that Florida Beavis had no plan for what to do after ousting McCarthy. He really was "the dog that caught the car." It is by the grace and mercy of God that Mike Johnson was elected SotH and we are fortunate we didn't have a few RINO's joining with Dimocrats to elect some spineless turd.

The author is FOS re Gaetz. He wrote that “Self-serving Representative Matt Gaetz had absolutely no plan beyond “oust House Speaker McCarthy.”

WTF should he have to have a plan for anything but bounce McCarthy? That is like blaming the Fire Department for having no plan to remodel the house after putting out the fire. That wasn’t Gaetz’s job.

His “plan” after getting McCarthy replaced was to trust the Constitutional process. F anyone who thinks otherwise.

Calling for “an honest conversation” and starting with a phony premise articulated with emotional language? Hmph.

Gaetz did well in exposing the RINOs, frankly, who had to listen to their constituents instead of the Voice of the Uniparty.

Never mind exposing the RINOs who were subverting the Constitutional process.

I don’t agree with the author, who sounds like a wimp. The lying McCarthy had to go.

The Great Eight did have a plan. They simply could not advertise it because a lot of grifting Republicans resented being separated from their loot and would spitefully oppose anything wanted by the Great Eight.

Panties in a wad, much? Nobody cared that this took a few days. The outcome is yet to play out.

What a dishonest article.

It starts with an emotional attack and continues with false premises.

The old Progressive media no longer control the narrative.

If it were not for “Florida Beavis” we would still have the backstabber leading the house and FR GOPe apologists would be polluting the forum with the idea that a congress functioning against us is better than a congress ground to a halt.

Now not only do we have what looks like a better speaker but 25 identifiable targets to flush during the primary. Sometime it is true that fortune favors the bold.

This ‘no plan’ talking point, which I assume originates in the GOP, should be turned against them.

Not one more dollar should be spent on anything external to the United States, or non absolutely essential expenditures until there is a PLAN for the debt.

McCarthy was exposed to all, both moderates and conservative, as a backstabber who was primarily concerned about himself. McCarthy house career as a leader is done. That was worth the price of admission.

He will probably leave soon for a corporate job like Ryan, or a lobbyist and a drink like Boehner.

Gaetz is all about Gaetz, but countless significant events occur by accident or by serendipity. It’s a distinction without a difference - all that will be remembered is that Gaetz engineered the shift of a narrowly-Republican House to the right, and if Speaker Johnson can marshall his team and make a difference for the American People, both will be lauded as heroes.

History is always written by the victors, not by bloggers at American Stinker.
