Russia and Ukraine are locked in a stalemate on the frontlines of their war and the two sides need to sit down and negotiate an end to the conflict, Alexander Lukashenko, the authoritarian leader of Belarus and an ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin, said over the weekend.
"There are enough problems on both sides and in general the situation is now seriously stalemate: no one can do anything and substantively strengthen or advance their position," Lukashenko said.
"They're there head-to-head, to the death, entrenched. People are dying."

"We need to sit down at the negotiating table and come to an agreement," Lukashenko said in a question and answer video posted on the website of the Belarusian state news agency BelTA.
"As I once said: no preconditions are needed. The main thing is that the 'stop' command is given."

We will not let that happen. It needs to stretch out as long as we can keep it.

Russia is not going to overrun Ukraine, and Ukraine is not going to get back the Donbas or Crimea.
It’s a stalemate for both sides.
It is an honest truth they need to come to and understand.
We shouldn’t fund an endless war. Neither should Russia. Neither should Ukraine. Sometimes you just can’t win.
The war will end on January 20, 2025 if Trump wins the election. If Biden wins reelection, the war will last a couple more years

I demand the Ukraine lay down their arms after this act of aggression

The only reason Lukashenko is saying this is because the Kremlin wants him to. Russia is hurting and they need a pause in the war so they can rearm and outfit a new army.
Russia is hurting and it is time to press the attack and force them to quit the war entirely!
